A lovely swivel bolster, number 261, 9" with black & white Brazilian horn. A really lovely little switchblade.

You said it man, lovely little switchblade!
You seem to lean toward the 9"er's whereas I prefer the 11" models, although, if I see something I really like I certainly won't let the mere 2 inches stand in my way, I'll still buy it, I just prefer them longer and larger.
You ought to be proud of this new one Roy, those horn covers are exceptional!

Yes, really beautiful this one. And I have no idea about the omission of the red dot, perhaps just an odd manufactures anomaly?

However, and I have to say, the safety is the smoothest I have seen thus far, just firm and smooth, really lovely detail.

I'm glad you're pleased with your new knife, buddy.
That is quite unusual that the safety works so well normally they don't, except for the newer very tiny custom made safeties some of the high-end makers are using nowadays.
I might be wrong, but I believe these new ones were invented by Paul "Burn" Panak, but I only say this cuz his knives were where I first saw them. They're designed to be very small protrusions that are tightly encased in the cover material, and are sticking out ever so slightly from the front cover, and only shift a very short distance before they engage. I haven't heard of one failing so far. Of course, IMHO, the knife looks far better with out any type of safety, and I've yet to hear of any auto firing in your pocket on it's own without a safety.
Another case of, to each his own!

I recall during my miss-spent youth (in England) in the late 1970s carrying a classic Italian 'flick-knife' (as we called them), which alway opened in my pocket due to the safety being very loose..

I now wish I still had that one.

Well there ya go, I've now heard of an auto opening in a pocket cuz the safety didn't work!
There are other Englanders on site who've mention those "flick" knives, and they all also say they wish they still had one.
They sure must have been fun to fiddle with!

And completely illegal too
