In addition to the stag I enjoy the appearance of the large pins. I'm thinking those pins provide a distinctive and attractive look.

Thanks Garry, it certainly gives it an appearance of a strong build. It does feel very solid in hand, this would make a great user, especially with the ATS-34 steel.

Another recent acquisition to my Moki collection. This knife was made 20 years ago approximately and was a limited hand made edition. It’s the first Moki I’ve ever seen with a thumbstud, besides the Fallkniven knives that Moki makes. Number 047 of 200 only made. I probably overpaid for it but there was one other bidder that wanted it pretty badly. The handles are what looks like cocobolo and I love the malachite spacer. Nice finger grooves on the top of the blade and a very unique blade shape. Never seen this one before and glad I could get it.

Nice Knife the Mid-Lock makes it a true one hand knife as you can unlock with just one hand were a back lock you have to us both hands to unlock the Blade

The upward jut on the blade where the stud is located reminds me of something Spyderco would do.

That’s a good point Gary that I hadn’t thought about. It opens smooth as silk. It’s a well made knife for sure.

Thanks Mark. I am wracking my brain to remember where I’ve seen this blade configuration before. It’s not Spyderco, but something I think that either Master Sakai or Fukuta made for some other company. When I remember it, I will post a picture of it.

I found the knife I was thinking of but can’t get the photo to copy. It is a G Sakai knife designed by Master Takahashi.
Beretta used a version of this blade design as well called the “fisher”. What it really reminds me of is a Lakota blade either on the fixed blade or the Lil Hawk folding version.

I find this a very interesting knife on many counts. The blade shape is uncommon to be sure. The thumb stud is perfectly placed to give me maximum leverage which makes opening very quick and easy. The blade is perfectly centered. The handle appears to be hand-filling. The runup lacks the precision we have come to expect with Japanese products. Overall, for me, it is a highly desireable knife.

The unfortunate placement of the finger ridges right at the run up is why this looks to be less tight. If those grooves weren’t there, I bet it would looks Moki tight.
I wonder if I can get my next Moki Custom to be this knife? That would be something really special.

I think I know the knife you're referring to, Mark. I guess the way Spyderco built their blades to accommodate the hole is what looked familiar to me.
Unless I'm missing something, the run-up on that knife is invisible to me including the finger grooves, I don't see any sort of break right up until the lockback release. Must be these old eyes.
That would really be something if you were able to contract that knife for the next project with Moki, those wouldn't be available for long I'm sure!

EDIT: I know why I was making a connection with the blade on your knife now, Mark, I have a G. Sakai/stag covers on my ebay Watch List and it has a similar blade. I knew I'd seen it somewhere!!!

Here is another Moki Lakota Teal knife that I was fortunate enough to get at the right place at the right time. I did some research on this semi precious stone and knew it wasn’t turquoise but what is it? I finally narrowed it down to blue dyed Howlite. I had one with the regular Howlite a few years back and the veins in the stone looks very similar. Nice nickel spacer with black jet stripes.
This knife was in my store for less than 12 hours before it was purchased. Lakota’s are still a hot item even after decades of being out of production.

Iman, Given my druthers, I rather carry a knife that not only cuts well but also looks good while doing so. Your Moki certainly achieves that requirement.

You and me both blade brother. Couldn't agree more and Moki fits the bill there. But there's also the state of the art lock up on these and the fit and finish which is flawless. It's a work of art and a work of excellent craftsmanship and excellent build quality and design and everything. Underrated knives IMHO. Thanks Sharpshiney, thanks Quick Steel.

I couldn't look through 6 pages of gorgeous Moki knives without ordering a blue one from SSK! I was torn between the blue and the stag on Knifeart. The decision came down to free shipping and no taxes from Mark made his $41 cheaper. Thanks Mark!

Thank you Rick, you won’t be disappointed. It’s simply an elegant knife and it works extremely well too. Be sure to post pictures of it when you get it. I’m just about out of this larger size in the Lapis Blue. Enjoy!
