These are pages from a late 30s Union Hardware catalog. It took a while to get them figured out. I could not have done it without tremendous help from Jerry Hawkins.
I included the kitchen and butcher sections because I think all the different specialties are interesting.
I left out a lot of things, like carving sets and axes.
There are a lot of pages so I'm going to send them in 4 or 5 posts.

Thanks LongBlade, those were the knives listed at the end of the Wolstenholm section in the hardware catalog. I think it dates to pre 1909 although I have no exact date to give. Non-XL was Joseph Allen of Sheffield and Hercules was Lamson Goodnow of Shelburn Falls, MA. Sorry I can’t provide more info on the others, I don’t know what Sterling Cut Corp was.

Barry, that is fantastic! That is a nice combination, Winchester, Remington and Ka-Bar! Glad you were able to get that figured out and thanks for doing the time consuming work of putting them up here.

These Stiletto knives were made for Pacific HDWE. & Steel Co. (1901-1918). This catalog dates to sometime in the aughts. The knives could possibly been made by Napanoch.

great additions to this thread fellers thanks, I really enjoy these old catalogs. I have never seen a stiletto brand either I guess they were only on the west coast.

Some of those early wharncliffe whittlers are making my mouth water ... very cool historical pics - thx for posting.

What I find interesting is many of these historic patterns are long gone, never see them from the big manufacturers like Case ... but I recognize several of the old patterns from what GEC and Queen /S&M currently make - just wish the prices were closer to the ones listed in the catalogs

I bet our Grandfather's said something akin to that ,back in their days John.

I have a ebony handled hobo with a Stiletto tang stamp and etch.It is a dead ringer for an Ulster.

Is it in your thread, I mean the etched thread?
