All kidding aside, Mike you do a great job on those cooking segments.

When I was about 12 years old I was working on a neighbors farm and would eat lunch there with the family. That is when I was freed from the shackles of Miracle Whip and first experienced the taste of freedom that comes with REAL MAYONNAISE.

Here in the south I enjoy my fresh garden tomatoes in a BLATO.
Bacon, Lettuce, Avacado and Tomato sammich. Yes, with real mayonnaise.

Ok folks...time to bring this ol' thread up again! Anybody doing any harvesting yet? I've got peas, carrots, sweet onions, bell peppers, Habanero peppers, ghost peppers, Brandywine tomatoes, Mortgage Lifter tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, Purple Cherokee tomatoes, Green Zebra tomatoes, all in the ground. Along with a bunch of herbs and some sunflowers. Long time before any of that is ready though....but we have been harvesting an abundance of these tasty breakfast radishes! Buttery, peppery, nice and fresh.

Let's see some pics peoples! I am hoping for lots of participation this year!!

Mike, normally by this time of the year I'd already have my salad greens, onions, some green maters, turnip greens etc... But this year we had cold weather later than normal and a couple late frosts. And it's rained and rained and rained. Just about the time its dry enough to plant it rains again! All I have out is mortgage lifters, better boys, black cherry, and black krim tomatoes, some jalapeños and cayenne peppers, a new grape vine, some new blackberries and some raspberries.

I have picked some strawberries off our patch, but I haven't yet planed a seed one! I'm hoping this week but it looks kind of iffy.

I hear ya Colonel, seems like alot of folks are getting off to a zlow start due to the unpredictable weather. It was mid 70's during the day and upper 50's at night leading up to Memorial day, which was great, so I planted then...since then we've been having daytime highs in 50's and 60's with night time lows in the upper 30's! At least the rain here has been nothing out of the ordinary, although north of us they are having same problems as you. Hope it settles down for ya and you end up with a bountiful harvest!

I will be using my Benchmade 710 to harvest/eat from my garden this year, she is big enough and one hand open and closing are a nice bonus

Good choice Gino! I have been admiring that 710 of yours ever since you started showing it...even researched it a bit myself..only thing scaring me off is I hear that slight recurve combined with the D2 makes it kind of a pita to sharpen..how have you found it to be?

I have yet to have to sharpen it and I use it every day, I also have had a concern about the re-curve but if I decide not to give her a try I will just send it back to Benchmade and they will sharpen it for me. This knife is awesome in my opinion and I do also have the black handle regular 710 in D-2 but I like this one better

While I was mowing in the woods this afternoon, Miss Joy picked the 1st cucumbers of the season. They are usually pretty scrappy at first, but soon they'll get lined out and make enough to put up several dozen quarts of pickles. She'll probably slice these and we'll just put a little salt on them and enjoy a fresh 'cuke. Of course they're used in our salads all during the season.
She's already made Zucchini Bread and we've sliced zucchini length wise and broiled the slices. We have seasoning called Everglades Seasoning that works on everything, from zucchini to vinison .
Mike, I've been totin' the Moose as an EDC, it'll certainly slice a cucumber!

Good stuff Phillip! Glad to see the Moose is seeing some action. I love a good cucumber sandwich, on toasted wheat bread smeared with a little cream cheese, salt, pepper, and thin sliced red onion, yum. I am still stalled out with only radishes at the moment, but our pea plants are starting to look like they are ready to start producing soon...fingers crossed!

Not much in the big city garden. My son co-opted a little corner next the driveway and put in three tomato plants and some pepper plants.
Then his mother overloaded him with more tomatoes and pepper plants and provided pots for them.
Like last year, I put in one Burpee Big Pink.

In addition to my new Moose, I've started carryin' the SOG Flash II that my son-in-law gave me last winter. We "butchered" some sweet corn with it this afternoon, Boy, that sucker is sharp! Notice the old Utica paring knife, it has a broken tip. Miss Joy has used it for years to dig out kernels that are discolored or damaged, she say the little square tip is perfect . Our corn is still a few weeks out, this Silver Queen came from a good friend's patch.
