Yes sir, the Colonial wizard is at your beck and call............ ::tu::
We have two # 2644 Camp knives...we made them forever and in many forms......
The top model is clearly the older of the two and as you can see, many changes were made through the years and this is an excellent test Scott, thank you very much....
The top one is probably early 1960's and up. Shell knives were "king" in those years.
You can see that every blade has been re-designed through the years, for one reason or another. The age of the top one is a dead giveaway by the long pull on the master blade, and the long thongs on the fork. The spoon itself is smaller and another example of our older design. The bigest change that knowbody knows is that the top older model has just a can opener blade. We re-designed that same blade many years ago in the bottom knife blade to act as a bottle AND can opener!!! Got everyone on that one!! how could you know unless you were in my factory as long as I was!! It was an attempt to make a double functioning blade instead of adding an addition blade. I'm not sure if anyone proved it didn't work; all I know is we still sold thousands of them! ::super_happy::
In addition to all the blade changes, the fork slot on the older model was changed to be much smaller, and not such a large wedge in the handle. The plastic was also changed and the light brown die we applied, was darker and sunk into the deeper cuts on the handle..they felt it would give the knife a stronger look and more stag like feel...
The second one is anywhere from 1972 and up..after that, changes were still made..
You know engineers they love to change things!!
What do you think Scott?? Did I pass the test, Mr. Wizard??? thanks for showing them pal and I love sharing my years of knowledge with all of you... ::groove::
Bobby P. CKCo. " Cutler 4-ever"....

Good morning folks!! Show'em and show'em we will.... ::ds::
A while back I sent my North Carolina buddy Mr. Joe (dirt) Keating a bunch of knife making materials,,,pins, rivets, bone and stag slabs, knife blanks and more importantly, 100 year old Abalone pearl slabs. The pearl was thin, about .035 thick, and varied lenghts like 3/4 inch and some 1/2 X 2and1/4 inch long. Working with pearl of any kind is like working with glass!! Drilling, sanding, grinding and even polishing is almost impossible to the average joe knifemaker, My dear friend Joe Keating has turned this particular material into an absolute work of art!! No BS folks...this man has very valuable skills!! If he lived here in Rhode Island years ago, I would have dragged him up to office, signed hire papers, and demanded my uncles to put him on the payroll and put his work bench right next to me...
Like Don Corleone in the Godfather said, "I'll make them an offer they won't refuse"...
Your about to see Joe's first work of art, sent to me Friday, and it will be treasuered for as long as I live. As a matter of fact, I've already ordered a knife slot in my coffin to take this with me in the afterlife!! That's how proud I am of this man's work....
Check it out!! Bobby P..CKCo..."Cutler 4 Ever"... ::groove:: ::groove::
FYI These pictures do no justice to the beautiful hok of art that I can't take out of my hands!! Incredible Joe!! ::ds:: ::ds:: ::ds:: ::ds::

Bobby, I'm very pleased that you approve of the little lock back. That is my first shot at working with pearl!
All went MUCH better than I had anticipated. It has some unique properties that you would never know
unless you have worked with it before!
Without your advice and help.... there's no way It would have turned out the way it did. ::nod:: ::handshake::

Gotta say - you made me proud with your compliments AND I am proud of myself for "pulling this off."
I would have happily taken up occupancy at a bench right next to yours at the factory!!
The both of us working side by side - now that would have stired up everyone and every thing in the room!

Thanks for all the complaments folks... there will be more of these knives in the near future! :D

I'll have to edit in the pics of the bolsters... ya'll would NEVER guess what they are!

....... Joe

Oh yeah Joe, I can see my rich uncles hovering around us and the assembly room!! Naturally, they wouldn't say a word to me knowing they were pulling down 2 G's a week just to walk around and they refused to pay me!! And I was doing Colonial work, besides my own!! Maybe that's why Scott calles me "Killer".!! You don't take on that nickname till somebody steals your birthright!! Ok, ok Scott, I'll calm down!! ::facepalm::
Boy have I got a suprise for you guys!! I'm going to post it everywhere but right now, here's my first proud announcement!! A gift arrived from Mr. Mark D. Zalensky, editor of Knife World Publications!! Prouder than a peacock, I am!! ::ds:: ::ds:: ::ds:: ::ds::

My first official "Press Release", compliments Knife World Magazine!!!
It will be on page 13 in the January issue of Knife World!! How am I going to sleep tonight!!
