These are the only 2 spoons that I have that came from utensil kits.
The top one says STAINLESS U.S.A. and the bottom one says STAINLESS BY WALLACE.
As far as I know, they are the originals that came with the utensil kits that I have.
But more recently than the ones you guys posted.

The spoon I have looks most similar to the one posted on Page 1.

I think it just says STAINLESS but I will check tonight for sure.

I'm slightly curious as I don't ever remember seeing an older scouting utensil kit spoon with a maker mark.

Well, this arrived today and I have no idea what to do with the handle spacer/blade guard. It looks like it was filled in with some sort of material that hardened as it dried, almost like plaster. That is what the sides of the handle look like. The bottom looks like it was filled in with a different material because it is a different color. What do I do? I don't want to leave it the way it is. Any ideas how to remove the material(s) without having to chip away and damage the handles? There are 8 pictures. The first 4 are the knife in question. The last 4 are of the same (proper) style knife that I already had. ANY help would be appreciated.

Dremel with a small ball end grinder in the center to loosen it up? Then chip away at it with a dental pick? Acetone? That's a hard one if you don't want to scratch up the frame.

Thank you for the suggestions. I used my hobby drill with a very, very small drill bit at very, very high rpm's and drilled a series of very tiny holes through the still unknown material along the length of the handle. Then I moved the bit from one hole to the next without removing the bit and the material broke up and fell out. The material on the bottom of the handle came off quite easily after that. I now have another decent looking, Geo Schrade, wire handle knife. The result is pictured below.

Nice cleanup on a nice knife. Glad it went well. Did you figure out what the stuff was?

Thank you. I want to say plaster, but I'm not sure. The stuff on the bottom I believe was resin.

Would the knife even open and close properly with all of that plaster(?) stuffed in there? Great looking end result!

Actually, the knife did open and close properly. The blade sat perfectly in a carved out groove in the plaster(?). It was just so ugly and it added considerable weight to the knife.
Did you look to see if that scout spoon was marked?

Remembered to check my spoon last night, it only says "STAINLESS."

Gotcha. When I was looking for a decent set, I tried to find one with a spoon that looked the part.

Gotcha. When I was looking for a decent set, I tried to find one with a spoon that looked the part.

Just got home with this one, another hawkbill pruner.
Gave it a very mild cleaning. Not in bad shape at all.
Also pictured with the other two.

I just bought this Geo Schrade hawkbill pruner. Hopefully I'll get it in a short amount of time, but it's coming from Canada.
Doesn't look like I'll have to give it much of a "cleaning." It will make a welcome addition to my wire-jack collection. I'll post

Here is a BOKER/USA wire jack that I won at auction and picked up today. Has not been sharpened and would be near mint except for some light spots.

I bought my first Boker wire-jack hawkbill pruner a few days ago (the FIRST 4 pictures). I'll clean it up when I receive it and I'll post MY pictures here. These pictures are the seller's. I bought the other wire-jack hawkbill pruner a little while ago (the LAST 2 pictures). It's probably a Geo Schrade, hopefully it's a Boker, but I am not sure. This BOKER wire-jack, hawkbill pruner arrived yesterday. My first pruner from BOKER. The tang stamp/etch is very hard to make out, but it is dead center in the last/bottom picture. Click the pictures to ENLARGE.
