I'm a toenail/sunfish guy at heart, and I have a few that are etched.First is a Camillus with Sword Brand etch.

Next is a New York Knife with hammer brand etch.

Another New York Knife, etched Loder & Smith over Philade. Pa..Shield is stamped "everything for roads".

Another New York Knife made toenail.Stamped Van Camp Hardware Indpls..Etched Capitol.

peanut 740, WOW!, what a bevy of beauties, full blades and etches on them all. I especially like the blade on the Keen Kutter coke bottle hunter.

One more, Case Brothers with what some call Winterbottom bone, I don't know if it truly is or not.Acid etched TESTED XX.Years ago in another post Perry Miller said he had never seen an etched Case Brothers.I showed him another one I have that is very lightly etched(some dumbass buffed it off)at a show, he thanked me for showing him there was such a thing.It seems like I learn something new about everyday about old knives.Mostly on AAPK.

Years ago, Cindy and Jim Taylor had a nice Robeson 622409 toenail on one of their mail-out knife lists. The knife had a bar shield that read "Everything For Roads" or possibly "All For Roads".

My thought at the time was it was a campaign slogan for some politician.

Charlie, I had another NYK toenail that had the same everything for roads shield on it, it was well worn and had no etch.I had the same thought about the slogan.I don't know anything about who Loder & Smith were.Could have been a pair of politicians, or maybe a construction company pushing road construction.Roger

Wow, I am having flash backs from my youth now, and really wracking my brain to remember where I seen this!

I am fairly certain that was a slogan used by the Barber-Greene company, they were founded in 1916 and made asphalt paving equipment, among other construction equipment.

Peanut, That bunch of knives is unreal. Best I have ever seen.

Wow Roger,what a collection.I'll have to drive on down towards Portsmouth some time and we can see our knives up close.

Seems like knife collectors often progress from everything to large knives to a niche, or as Charlie put it your "bailiwick". Look it up,I had to. New word for the day. That Noyes guy is quite the wordsmith.

Loder and Smith was a Jobber for equipment in Phila. Being an old road man helped!!!!!!

Bailiwick = area of greatest knowledge, expertise, interest and comfort.

That's not Webster, but it'll do in a pinch.
