All About Pocket Knives

Need a picture to give an accurate value or year even.

Here's an oddball, sort of half shell, half solid. '36-'52 stamp and back is stamped pats. pend. I don't think they made very many of 'em.

I think that is an inter frame handle, Robeson and others used these as well

Ok, I think this is what you're wantin'. The sides aren't machined from solid slabs, but rather a thin shell with solid bolsters and handles set in. Then they're curled up around the edges. I've seen a few Ambassador fob knives built similar, but not with solid bolsters. I think Colonial used a similar technic too, but again, not with solid bolsters. All of those i've seen just had a solid handle slab in barehead fashion. (so to speak)

I thought these were solid one piece the sides and bolsters, I have one or two of these somewhere that I never really looked that close at. If I can find them I will examine them more closely.

No problem Dimitri, I wish they were interframes. I'm thinkin' maybe some sort of transition model that didn't quite take.

Yes sir, that would be it. I gave up tryin' to read all that lawyer jargin, but the pics said it all. Patent issued 1931. If you have a couple like this, i'd be interested to know if they have an earlier stamp then this one, or if it took 5 years to go into production on them.

Added a few more to my accumilation of Imperials ie Hammers and Ireland Sabers I love these, they represent the working mans do-all knives :DBaseball,apple pie,Chevrolet and knives..

Garddogg, nice collection of Imperials. Like you they are one of my favorite brands - good, blue-collar, working knives, well made and a good deal when they were around. Guess that's why I like Colonials too.

I had posted this one on the shell hand;ed thread but here it is on the correct one. This knife is scalpel sharp and is as tight as new. I carry it regulalry. 1930-36 stamp......Herb

Yup I grew up with Imperial Knives so they are as AMERICAN as apple pie

I think maybe you (and Joe) have seen that striped Imperial before on a different thread( we were discussing the hammer brands with the cool spey blade swedge like this one). Too bad many peeps dont realize just how good those older Imperial are! (or maybe lucky for us
