Both of the whalers are 4 3/8 inches closed a shade longer than the Case at 4 1/4 inches. I think what makes them so impressive looking is the width o f the blade, about 1 5/8 inches at the widest point. ::woot::

Whalers were patterned after C Platts & Sons jumbo swellcenter knives.Bill Howard had one of mine for a year or so in his office desk.

Beautiful bone indeed. Probably Rogers "Indian Trail" jig.

Dan, those are fine examples. I especially like the last one, Appaloosa bone with the NKCA museum etch. ::tu::

Not to sidetrack the thread, but I went back to Page 1. I wonder how Brett and Kathy are doing? I haven't seen JKB in a few months either, but Herb and I saw robinetn at the Mason-Dixon show last year.

Nice Dimitri and Dan
Definitely is my favorite Pattern.
I especially like the last one Dan. What are the Scales made of?

I know I posted this some place else. Even though it has seen it’s better days, thought it needed to be posted here. This is the one that has helped me to buy a couple of knives. I like the Bulldog Mini/Baby elephant toes/Sunfish. They simply fit in my pocket Better.
Enjoy another of Dad’s knives
A beat up Crandal. Still very cool.
Steve

Nice old Crandal. The handles are appaloosa bone (what Case called it).
