All About Pocket Knives

Picked up this knife today. Nicest A.W. Wadsworth XLNT I've had.

I call that handle material pressed stag. I would like to hear other opinions.I believe it is die cast material??

The handle is actually bone. I call it early pick bone, some people call it snakeskin bone.

Beautiful Wadsworth, must have taken someone quite some time to complete that intricate jigging pattern.

Most I have seen by the same makers have very similar design.I have heard it called snakeskin stag. I think it is pressed design.

Yours looks like Wostenholm.

I would call it pressed also.

Mr Sexton says it is for sure bone, I guess that means that bone can be softened and pressed in the same fashion as stag?

I think its jigged that way and not pressed at all.

Beautiful knife Mike ... If you didn’t tell me those were pressed horn handles I would have thought they were celluloid - those symmetrical wavy lines on the handles sure reminds me of celluloid Is that a characteristic of pressed horn ?

`Thanks for the kind words on the knife. Sorry I was looking through the whole thread and saw some with pressed horn handles and that was what I was talking about. The Utica has celluloid handles. Sorry or the confusion
