Nice fixed Blade Wilbert . First one these old eyes have seen . Very cool
If it’s German would the O ,in CO.be smaller and Underlined ? That’s one way I’ve been taught to figure it out . Past that still learning and am curious.
Is the Gator show still on next month

Not sure what this pattern would be called, but I especially like the threaded bolsters and the repair to the pile side cover from a previous owner. It also has really nice color in those old bones, at least to my eye.

Lama, Nice knife it resembles a 1950 Winchester, except they were stag I think. There are guys that could hide the patch and crack. Still very nice. Thanks for showing it.

Thanks Harold, I could probably also do a tighter patch, but I think the primitive repair fits the knife. The blade shows years of use and some abuse, yet it still has great walk and talk along with an even edge. The cover, even with the ill fit patch and crack is stable. All together, I read it as an old user that has stood the test of time and has earned a rest just the way it is. Plus, I don't plan to carry or use it, just let it lie in its drawer to be checked out once and awhile. The next owner can do a better repair, or not. -Michael

I picked up this 3 and 5/8" bone handled Wilbert over the weekend for a couple of bucks. I always buy Wilberts when I see them regardless of condition because you don't see them often. This one has been the victim of previous work, the rocker pin is now a nail, clinched over on the mark side, and an attempt has been made to make a portion of the blade serrated. I think this must have been a camper/scout type knife originally and the broken blade that would have occupied the empty space must have been a can opener blade. The back side of the punch blade carries the patent number 833146, which was patented by Seymour Landon Alvord on Oct 16, 1906. This patented punch blade is also seen on Keen Kutter, Shapleigh, Ulster, and other knives. I went back through this post and looked for a picture of a Wilbert camper knife and saw none. Anyone ever seen a Wilbert camper? I would be interested in seeing what the can opener looked like.
