All About Pocket Knives

Just bought this ninetyfour to one hundred year old Terrier off Ebay.

That Terrier is QUITE nice...

Has a LOT of what you need and little or no of what you don't need!

Here is one that I don't know much about. It has the name "Fulton" written in an oval. Does anyone have any information on the maker, etc?

Robeson manufactured knives at one time for Fulton Cutlery Company. However, every one I've seen was marked, "F. C. CO." and a good many of them had had a Robeson stamp ground off with some remnant remaining and the F. C. CO. overstamped on the tang.

There's a bit of controversy about that stamp. Tom Kalcevic in Knives Can Talk a Robeson history of note, states it stands for Fillmore Cutlery Co. a mark Millard Fillmore Robeson used on some 1890's German imports.

When I first started collecting I was told it stood for Fulton, so I've stayed with that

I've never seen one marked with the oval like yours.

Goins lists several Fultons, one a mark used by Montgomery & Company 1895-1896, one in Sheffield 1870-1920, one in Rochester, NY (that would be the Robeson link) and one in Canal Fulton, Ohio circa 1919 (that might be yours).

My computer is fairly old & when I go to your site, my slow computer has trouble downloading all the beautiful pictures.

I'm no computer guru, so when I scanned the knives to create the pics for the website I made them with too high a resolution. So, the site is photo heavy and one needs at least a gig of random access memory to navigate.

I need to rescan all the knives and upload smaller rez pics to the site. It's just such a daunting task, I cannot get myself into it. Not right now anyway.

Wow! That's quite a list for just of the top of your head.

I actually like bigger pictures to really look at the details of a knife. I wouldn't worry too much, Charlie. When I am at Bret's place & can look on his.

wouldn't it be easier to resize the photos? Your pictures are great. As large as they are they should resize nicely and not lose any significant resolution for the viewing public.

If you decide to take Wullie's suggestion about resizing those pictures, here is a great user friendly site to use for that purpose. Trust me, if I can navigate it anyone can. Once you've wound your way through the first two or three it will be a piece of cake for you.

Here is a tiny 1 1/4" pearl charm knife, 5 blades!

It is unmarked, it appears to be of German or Austrian manufacture.

Unusual round discs with the pearl inlaid on each side.

Great charm knife

One more to add to the thread. A top quality whittler circa 1950s. One blade used a little. William Rodgers and I Cut my Way name and trademarks owned by John Clarke & Son.

Man I love the looks of that knife!!! Sheffield knives are beyond compare.

Here is another miniature pearl handle knife, except this one has 10 blades

It is a high quality made knife, it is marked with the country of origin but not the company that made it.

Anyone care to guess what country this knife was made in?
