All About Pocket Knives

I find these fruit knives during the hunt. The unusual ones I like to keep. This one is stamped Joseph Westby Sheffield on the 4 steel blades. The 5th blade is silver with a 1906 hallmark. The unique thing about this knife, is the inside of the back springs. The center spring is Gold washed inside and the 2 outer springs are Blued inside. The fit and finish on this knife is amazing.

Very cool knife Barry ... nice “bling” on that one... what would you call the handle style on that one??? Sort of a wharncliffe frame but a swell center as well ... makes me think of a multi-blade gentleman’s knife that does it all .. Nice score - always good to hit a special one on the hunt!!!

According to Levine its a Swell Center Serpentine or Norfolk pattern ??

Very fancy knife. It is more than a Fruit knife. It is more of a multiblade with one blade being silver to use cutting fruit. A most sensible idea. Victorians liked picnics but did not like to tarnish the non stainless blades. I have seen a silver blade in a multiblade before but not fancy with gold washes, etc that this one displays.

I know this is an old thread but wanted to add my fruit knife for posterity. No marks. Seems to be solid coin silver, i burnished some small scratches in the blade.

I have seen several of the forks and thought maybe but afraid to go down that road, it might be endless. I sure like yours.

Those fruit knives are great. Thanks for posting them. I was watching several about three weeks on the world's largest auction site but never pulled the trigger.

Picked up this Sheffield made fruit knife, if I'm reading the hallmarks correctly made by William Needham in 1906, has some beautiful work done to the MOP.
