Here's a NYK Walden 4" stag trapper. My wife picked this up last year. It's a nice little knife but it's not in the same league as most of the other knives in this thread.

couple new york hammers

here is a new york knife hammer brand that my wife picked up for me a few months back

I have a few New York Knives.....
The yellow pickbone cokebottle is a "OVB" made by NYK
The Wormgrove cokebottle is a Foster Bros made by NYK
The rest are all Nyk

I like the old knives from New York. And it really doesnt matter who made them.
The old double pull whittler has been one of my favorites for years.

Great collection. I like that you have some that NYK Co. made for other companies.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I had no idea. But i'm sure NYK built this knife. Its sporting the arm & hammer as a reverse tang stamp. All i found was that they made them for foster bros for one year. 1899.

New York Knife and Phoenix both did alot of contract work,and yours could be a NYK,but why would they make 2 different folding hunters?Roger

And by different,I mean different bone,blade,bolsters.I wanted to clarify because one is locking and the other isn`t.Roger

There different styles.
Lots of companys made different styles of cokebottles.
I have a robeson that locks and another that doesnt. Catt that does and one that doesnt.
I've seen one more foster bros that looked like mine about a month ago. But had alot more wear.
And since the foster bros. Is a contract knife,,i dont see why different style handles would make a difference.
And i assume the foster bros. Is a little older than the lockback NYK

Thats a beautiful knife! While many find the Hammer brand bone handles attractive, I`d trade for NYK knives with that kind of swedge anyday. Many of the old Schrades have similar swedges and I just love them. This knife looks very similar to a few of the old Marshall Wells Hardware knives that I`ve seen that were sold out of Minnesota and most of them were also made by NYK company and are excellent collector knives and top of the line NYK company knives to boot(even though they have the famous Marshall Wells "Zenith" stamp).

WOW KG and Cato, love those old knives, and when you add the olde tyme bone handles, they're over the top
