Found this Schrade the other day, Plymouth Cordage was in business from 1824 to 1964. Schrade must have made a lot of knives for them as they pop up fairly often.

Here is a four line Camillus rope knife. The tang stamp would date it from the end of WWII or earlier, possibly as early as the 1920s, from all I have been able to gather and from my conversations with Tom Williams.

That interests me about this knife is it seems to be a transition knife from the WWI Navy rope knives, with the swedge ground blade of the earlier knives and the wood handles seen in the post-WWII rope knives.
This knife is 3-3/4" like the WWI Camillus rope knife shown on page 40 of Mike Silvey's book Pocket Knives of the United States Military, it has the same four line tang stamp and it has the same blade profile and long pull. The difference is the WWI knife has Rogers bone handles and a pinned shackle. Aside from that they seem to be the same, down to the placement of the pins in the handles.

Here is a Western States arched stamp amde for the Portland Cordage Co. It has a snap that would take a finger off, and the pen blade is nearly impossible to open with the large blade closed.

Here's a Kutmaster factory 2nd with the tang stamp ground off.

Found this one yesterday at the monthly fairgrounds flea market. They have a three day event in May and September, and I usually go on Friday. Been disappointed the last few shows, but not this time.
Four line Camillus 4 1/4" dated 1944 05 and Coast Guard marking. Jigged wood scales, and a pinned shackle.

I have passed on knives with stickers on the scales. I have seen the glue etch some composition.

was able to pickup these two,
not able to find out what the writing is about
thinking insurance, or agriculture but still not sure.
still researching, had posted in rigging section,
most all i am pulling up is around 1906 with these word phrase's

both are 4 5/8ths length

the wharnie blade is different

than i had seen before
