I got this one, same place as Charlie's Argyle, but it's a 1/2" larger and cost $6. ::doh::

Actually, I bought it as a curiosity because Kamp was my mother's family name, and they came from the same part of the world as this cutlery company.

I've seen their knives a time or two at auction, but I'll have to bid more than I would have expected to snag one. :?

Charlie,

They both measure 2 7/16"

Fran,

I think I have a knife with that Kamp mark, if i remember correctly it is a little pearl just like the ones posted above.

Another obscure German cutlery co. that made these little carved pearl pen knives.

If I find it I will post a picture of it ::nod::

Boy, $4.00 and $6.00, I really need to go to that knife show next year! ::sneaky::

Here is my latest acquisition.

Cleveland Cutlery Co. knife box. Nice graphics and still has the dealer packing slip inside.

It came with this little, unused, pearl pen knife. The tang is unmarked.

Any help dating it would be appreciated ::nod::

Keith,

Queen is using the old S&M tang stamp on new knives, I have also seen the boxes being reproduced. If yours looks like brand new condition, it most likely is not an old box. Very few early boxes are found in as new condition.

Here are my latest pickups. I really love the Stiletto!!!! The Excelsior I had to have to go with the etched pearl that I bought not long ago. The pearl is shown on a different thread on Excelsior's.

Gino, I think it has made knife buying WWWAAAAYYY more fun to go after the boxes too. Just think how an old knife looks with and old box from the same company or the original box for that matter!!!!

I don't have it yet, but here is the link to an EARLY S&M box I just got off of the EBay.

What do y'all thing of this one. My guesstimate is 1897. ????????? Is that awesome or what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To get a box from Schatt and Morgans very first year is amazing. Remember they moved to Gowanda in 1897 from thier New York City Office. This is a piece of history folks.

Dimitri was kind enough to put a pic of it in his next comment. THANKS

go ahead, burst my bubble. I love reviving old threads

Here is one that came with a Holley knife that had been used, and it's purple... Did someone dye it later, or? Also, it was wrapped in this paper.

Also a very plain Boker carving set that had a cool box.

These boxes amaze me. Some from such obscure companies, that I have never even seen a knife from them. I am glad they are in good hands now.

Just got back from the Westminster Kennel Club show in NYC. The S&M box was in the mailbox. It is a timeless piece to say the least. It is my oldest box for sure.
