My good phone, a Kyocera DuraForce Pro 2 is missing. My backup, an LG Stylo 5 isn't waterproof, and humidity in the air has taken a toll on the display. However, I found an old camera that worked better than either.

That aside, I'd been meaning to get a real camera for quite some time. I'd gotten some goo on a Fujifilm I had, and ruined the lens. This Kodak was introduced in 2005, and I think my grandparents bought it new around that time. It had been retired due to cellphones for at least 10 years or more. The lens had gotten really dirty, and I thought whatever stuff was on it was not coming off. I thought it was destroyed, and had nearly tossed it a few times. I used the really heavy-duty big microfiber cloths that come from auto parts stores, and it got the lens very clean.

Here are some test shots. Tang stamp photos are SUPER easy with this camera. I don't have to be right on the knife either, holding the camera weirdly as I would with my phone. Which is strange, as it's just a four megapixel camera--the Kyocera is 12, and the LG 16.

Everything just makes sense with a real camera, even one that is practically antique by tech standards.

I can even print photos with a dock it came with, but I don't think they make the paper (with ink already on it, much like a Polaroid) for it anymore.

Sweet knife, Q! I've come to really appreciate the easy open feature.

You speak the truth. A DSLR has been on my want list for a very long time. As I'd also need a PC to properly edit and post photos, on the want list the DSLR shall remain.

Hot and humid today. The Mighty Canine Muscle Missile went from full tilt to full stop after our walk. He came in and plopped down directly beneath the ceiling fan and started a dog nap.

From today's walk...

They look very nice Iman. ::tu:: I had taken a look at Artisan when I first saw them offered at SMKW. They have an interesting line-up.

One thing I'm wondering about the model you posted, I have very large hands and that handle looks like it might be a bit hard to hang on to. How does it feel in the hand?

The handle is narrow at the bare head but it's long, 4 1/2 closed, on the bigger end of pocket carries to me. Seems like it should fit a large hand like yours I would think. I have medium hands and this one is on the large side but not too big to me because I like them that size. I thought it would be too big to carry given the length, but it's so smooth and the curve fits my hand so well that it doesn't seem that big to me. The shape really fits the hand and it's not super narrow so it really is easy to get your fingers around and hold. I like the tapered end getting smaller as it goes away from the pivot. That shape to me is very hand friendly. The green micarta has great traction. The maroon is finer weave, maybe linen or something other than canvas I think. But between the shape and micarta texture it's easy to grip and hold. Hope this is helpful. I am very impressed with the whole knife, size, feel, grip, shape, workings etc. Great pocket knife though a bit larger than I usually get. But it works for me.

Thanks you too Quick. My sentiments exactly.

Another photo op at the beach.

Great pics Iman. Some gnarly stag on that one! ::tu::

Don't let that seal get away with your knife!!!

Thanks for the critique of the Artisan. I'll have to get my hands on one. There are so many new imports popping up. I've always avoided buying Chinese products for political reasons and because most of what I saw was was cheesy junk. Times have changed, I'm still politically adverse to supporting China but one can't deny that they have stepped up and started exporting some high quality knives. So I guess you could say that my aversion to Chinese cutlery has been reduced by 50%. The QSP I acquired recently is a prime example, I wasn't happy about the Chinese origin but I was highly impressed with the quality and now it is solidly in my EDC rotation. Spain, Germany, El Salvador, Taiwan, and Italy among others are hitting the market with some fine knives so my collection which was about 90% USA and German is now becoming truly international.
