Thanks for the good words..the 147 has the Razor Blade etch..I was looking for a good one..didn't realize I had got a fairly rare one until it came in the mail. I don't know much about the Warren Whittlers other than Warren had something to do with the National Carving Museum..any info would be appreciated.

The Warren Whittlers came in a box.
There was 1500 sets.Not sure of year made.

This 72 came in the mail last week and I figured you're the one to ask. What is the story on the Ole Smoky?
I was comparing it to a short line 72 and all the blades are noticeably thicker and the swedge is not beveled on the pile side of the Ole Smoky. I thought I'd read somewhere , that the 72 was the same as the Schrade 863. Comparing the short line 72 to a Schrade Walden 863, the SW has been re-tipped, I noticed the swedge is completely different. I'm running around here in the dark...any enlightenment would be appreciated

Without going into the entire history of the Camillus 72's, the early 72's (1946-195x) had the saber grind on both sides of the main blade and then at some point Camillus started flat grinding the pile side. Somewhere along the way the saber grind on the mark side was discontinued as was the swedge.

I have found no evidence to suggest the Camillus 72 was not the first Carpenter's & Whittler's swell center pattern to be made (I'm open to proof others made the knife prior to 1946). The Schrade consortium (Schrade 863, Ulster 63 and Imperial) started cloning the pattern in the early 1950's.

The Ole Smoky you bought is a fantastic SFO made by Camillus for SMKW. Like it's two siblings it comes with bone handles & was made sometime in the 1990's. There were two others like it made during that same era. They made one with a deep blade etch of Ducks On The Pond whose roots are in question and one that is plain and I'm guessing was made expressly for collectors. All had those same bone handles and I have yet to see one that's not in factory condition.

Then Jerry told me about those Camillus 72's, back a year or two now.
You guessed it, I had to buy some 72s and the Schrade 863s for my collection.

I've had this knife for a while but thought I'd post it anyway. Since the Heritage Jack replaced the Heritage barlow in 85, Herman re-handled one for me so it would fit in my 1983 Red Heritage set...Most of Schrade's sets had a fixed blade so he did a Sharpfinger too.

I got this sign from the demo site. The Foreman on site stated that if I could remove the sign from outside the fenced area then have at it. It was tricky but I was able to accomplish the task and now have the sign in my possession. I am researching how to properly preserve the sign, it's just a sheet of plywood that was painted. It also has an aluminum frame. The sign is starting to peel and I want to preserve it for years to come.

There is an LB-1 with store display, 512 OT (European version 152 OT) and a 902 OT Compass with original packaging and paperwork!

Nice finds Tom, the 512OT & 902OT are both really hard to find.

Here is my most recent Schrade that was not a parts knife, it is a Schrade Walden 778 Open Stock.
This is the etch on the blade:
RAZOR BLADE STAINLESS/MADE IN U.S.A. It was hard to get a picture of the etch.
The knife is only 2-7/8" and was seen on Schrade's advertising knife sheets where it is called the "Petite" and referred to as a Stainless Steel Vest Pocket Knife.
From my research the best date I have been able to establish so far for the use of the Razor Blade Stainless etch is about 1964.
In 1965 the price list introduced the 778RB (Razor Blade Stainless) version of the 778.
By 1967 the 778 was gone from the catalog and the 778RB was sold in its place.

The SS778 with a nail file secondary was the knife used for the Miracle Whip Knives. The same knife with a pen secondary was made as the Cadillac Craftsman.

Tom, if that sign was painted by hand.
A good Sign-writer should be able to repaint the black.
Then a coat or two of clear, would seal the sign and help the white stay in-place.

That sign looks like a Schrade Collectable to me.

Received this Old Timer 51Ot in the mail.it was described as.

Knife is used and shows signs of use with scratches and wear to the handle. Blade and lock action is crisp, blade is fairly sharp.
Guess what no snap.Seller offered a refund ( They did this after I had to convince them that pocket knives had snap ).It would take three or more weeks to return .The knife cost $17 and would cost $22 to return.So I decided to repin the blade as some one had centre punched the blade pin and that's why there ws no snap.
