My Layla is jealous of the neighborhood dog when it comes to food..Yesterday, when my cousin’s dog approached the garage she jumped up on the table and was guarding the treats like a guard dog LOL

That’s a great picture, Stanwade! I always enjoy seeing members pets and it’s always interesting to be nosy and look beyond the dog. Nice pile of antlers and a nice big ol’ bench vise, too!

Cool!

A few toads live in front of my house. They are around every year for at least the past ten years. Of course it may be different generations of toads.

I think they hibernate under my wooden shed.

I see them on the street at night sometimes, then I go out side & carry em back to my house so they don't get run over.

Just did that friday night.

There was a pet store in Morgantown, WV when I was in college that had scorpions, all kinds of lizards and those big frogs/toads that you would feed mice to. One was about the diameter of a volleyball.

Thanks for the kind toad-related comments. My (growing) toads are between 4-5 inches and will get to 7" perhaps. The species can certainly eat full grown mice.
Saving those wayward toads from the road is a nice thing. In the wild these toads have a 4-5 year life expectancy and I think road-kill takes out many of them. I'm hoping to celebrate my toads 20th birthdays some day. They live far longer when spoiled in a terrarium.
The 21st century has been pretty toad-focused for me but in the past I have kept and bred snakes. I've kept a few types of scorpions and many types of tarantulas. Dogs and cats too but I sure like the weirdly wonderful.

Blame Tucson, Arizona! My grandmother moved down there for the last few decades of her life. I first visited when I was only 5. I remember going to the Sonoran Desert Museum which was full of neat arachnids, seeing a real roadrunner, finding a Gila monster in the neighbors garden and eating at "The Cave", Restaurant Bar la Roca in Nogales.
My mom bought me the book "Poisonous Dwellers of the Desert" at the museum gift-shop and I was hooked for life. Go figure.
