Well, I carried these yesterday:

Top is a TL-29 screwdriver conversion that I did.
Second is my Camillus Heat. No matter how many I set this guy aside for another EDC I always come back to it!
Third is a real sweet little switch Florinox. Made in France in the 1970's.

to day I have these:

I exchanged the Florinox for this little Scandi fixed blade. It rides nice in the pocket with its cool little leather sheath.

Ivoryman wrote:Another Trestle Pines Superior. Ironic name. This one has no deep marks on the blade, but the blade finish is uneven, light grind marks left over most off it, but buffed off in some areas and uneven in those around. And the blade tip rubs on one side, on the liner when closed, because the edge and spine bend off to one side instead of going straight out from tang to tip like any knife should. The blade is not straight. That seems like a significant problem. The edge isn't straight either, turns to one side. Tried to show it, pictures don't catch it, but it's very obvious in your hand. Most if not all my single blade knives do not stray off to one side like that. Other than that everything seems good and solid and like the previous knife but they both have issues. Great finish on the bolsters, wood, pins, transitions, pretty wood, love the grain lines. Reclaimed Ancient Ash wood is very cool. Tough call which to settle for, deep grind marks marring the finish, or a blade that isn't straight? Not a user either, so either way it's a wash. Strange, none of my other Queen's have these issues, but only have a half dozen or so, not a lot of Queen Experience.

As for Greg at TSA knives, he didn't make the knife, although he's selling it. He did give me another to choose from when I was disappointed in the first knife. He sent another knife out immediately. Here are both. Have nothing but good to say about his customer service.
Great review, this knife is on my wish list.

Scored this Black Cat in a lot purchase and thought I'd give it some pocket time. The steel is tough to sharpen.....

Sitting in my afternoon deer stand right now; earlier I helped clean a big (180 lb.) buck my buddy shot this morning with this old Schrade 15OT. My conclusion is the knife is a great slicer, but way too much knife for skinning and de-boning. OH

Bruce, I know exactly what you mean about that knife or any like it, being too big to work with. It can be done but not as comfortably as with a smaller blade in my opinion. I'm mighty partial to most of the folding hunters with 2 blades, a clip and a spay ::tu:: , however if I was to bust a nice buck like that, I could skin him with a church key ::ds:: .

Ivoryman - I appreciate the review of the Trestle Pine knife. Where are those made? I do not like a knife where the blade is curved or bent, or just not properly aligned with the body. seems like the last is most common, though I do have some that really are bent or curved.

OH - I have always liked the look of that model Schrade, but I have never owned one. I had a sharpfinger for a few years that I liked to use on small game. That 15OT is kind of like a bigger version.

Dinadan, the Trestle Pines are made by Queen according to Greg Holmes of TSA knives. The tang says Trestle Pine Knives and that's it. Got to be deliberate so we don't know, why that would be I cannot say. I can only assume they are made at the Queen factory in Titusville, PA like my other Queen tang stamps tell me, but just assuming because the knife, the box, and the card of specs that comes inside all carefully avoid mentioning Queen Cutlery or what State they were made in. Doesn't even say USA. I prefer tang stamps that tell you something about year they were made, location of the factory, pattern # etc. Hate it when they just show a company name and give no info. Unfortunately that's the Trestle Pines way.

These are a few picked up from Q over the years, my brother from a different mother on the big Island. He's fighting a serious leg infection, flat on his back in the hospital, not doing well. Most of my thoughts and prayers are for him today and the hope he gets better and recovers. He's given far more to me than he will ever take. Carrying knives in honor of him now.

Great pics Gdogg.
Here are some of the ivory tools, raw ivory slab to cut out, to buffed, finished hook.
S&M Bourbon Worm groove Coke Bottle on the Coke can. Weird worm groove. Every other worm groove I've seen is a groove, jigged or ground out. These protrude, stick out more like roots or veins. Opposite of what I expected. But still a cool bone, love the color and the size and shape of this knife. Mean edge, and believe they call it sabre grind.

Jerry, thanks for asking. Q scraped his foot on a piece of lava on the beach and got sea water in it. Tiny scratch he thought was nothing, but a couple days and his leg was really hurting, swelled to twice it's size and started oozing. Doc sent him to the hospital immediately, he spent a week there in bad shape, touch and go for a time. Just came home yesterday, now is flat on his back for 10 days while antibiotics do their thing and his leg comes back to normal, but he made it thank goodness. Hopefully no lasting damage. Prognosis looks good now and he's recovering. Had me worried, one of my oldest and best of friends. Appreciate the thought and I'll update if it changes.
