Hey Jerry, hope you know I was joking, no missing thunder here, just amazed that every knife I own is seemingly already in the collection of one of these AAPK guys and usually their scales are better looking or something too. And the High Command won't let me imbed more than 3 quotes so I couldn't continue the quoting. Of course, another nuance I didn't get before.

I pretty much always carry the ZT0566BW. Ditto the SAK Pioneer. Ditto the Ulster penknife.
But the down in the bottom of the right front pocket knife changes on a whim. This got the nod when I loaded up yesterday.

Very cool Imperial TripleF, love that one, how old? That is a beer scout before there were beer scouts, and yours is so much cooler than them. Great spear and knife all around and thanks, love to see stuff like that.

It's tang stamp dates it to 1956 - 1988. I guess she's a beer scout, before the beer scouts were made!
Another cool thing about this shell handle is the bolsters are slanted, and reverse slanted on opposite side.

Great slanted bolsters, and the shell is fabulous. Never would have guessed shell. What kind of shell is that bright red? Do they dye shell? Wow that is amazing too, as if the knife wasn't already cool enough. Thanks man, cool all around. Love decades old knives big time.

I-Man, the "shell" is metal stamped out in the shape of a handle and integral bolster. That red is most ikely a Celluloid wrap around the metal shell to make the handles appear to be regular mounted handles. Tabs at each end of the "shell" hold the shell handles/bolsters onto the knife frame.

I'm carrying this Trestle Pines Superior today, checking it out and I promised a member I would do a review so here it is:

Queen made Wharncliffe blade is 2 3/4 long, knife is 6 1/2 open, 3 3/4 closed. Nice swedge, shallow nail nick on the blade however. The blade needs a deeper nick closer to the tip or a long pull. Needs it, because this one doesn't give you enough leverage and feels like a nail breaker when using the nick, the nick is lame. However this blade spine sticks out so far you can pinch it open without using the nick and it's easier to do so it works anyway. Sharpened edge is a little wavy, uneven down the line. Right under the nail nick on one side only are lots of deep grooves from the grinding process, this one was cosmetically muffed I think. The rest of the blade and the other side are fine, no deep groves. But under the nail nick are deep groves from grinding and some cross groves running perpendicular that just look like someone botched finishing it. They maybe had it near finish and bumped in on a grinding wheel on accident or something, very unprofessional. Never seen a blade with this kind of mess up before. My other Queens don't have this problem. I've tried to show the close ups on the area with a bunch of deep grind grooves almost like on the old vinyl record albums we grew up with. Not a good finish on the blade or the edge.
The Ash is great, pretty wood, nice grain, smooth, well finished. So are the bolsters and all transitions I can see. The action and snap maybe 6-7, heavy snap and good half stop. If it accidently snapped shut on a finger it could do some damage. The blade came super sharp, effortlessly shaves the arm hair, very nice there. I like this 154 CM steel. All pins perfect flush and smooth, fit and finish is fine on everything but that one side of the blade under the nick. Definitely not a flawless knife. Otherwise you Queen owners will know what I'm talking about. Decent but not great. I bought it for the ancient re-claimed Ash and that's fine. But all the pictures showed a grey wood, which I wanted, this one came medium brown looking like most other wood out there. Oh well. I give it a 7.5 out of 10. Grind marks, lame nick, didn't look like the pictures. Otherwise a decent knife.

I-Man, thanks for the review. You are right, those grind marks on the mark side of the blade do detract from the appearance of the knife. If you bought it as a working knife, it wouldn't make a big difference but if you bought it to collect, have you given any consideration to sending it back for an exchange?

Edit: Almost forgot. How does it feel in the hand? Does it feel substantial or does it feel a bit thin and flimsy?

I called to enquire about swapping, first he says no problem, then says he only has a couple Ash left and none of the grey, just brown. There it is, what can I say? They put out some cosmetic flaws.

It feels fine. I like the frame and blade, the size, balance, shape, all good, all fit my hand, my likes. Think it's a Queen #41 frame, Copperhead. Solid, tight, no problem with function and I'm sure it would serve you well, although I didn't get it for a user. I'd like the seller to swap, don't want to return, if the knife didn't have such an obvious flaw it would be collection quality. Even so if he has no more Ash then I'll live with it. I am sure a little super fine abrasive done right could sand out the flawed finish, but ya know, don't like having to fix a brand new knife.

TSA knives Greg just emailed me and said he's sending another knife out, I can swap it for the new one or return them both on his dime, return postage is on it already. Nice way to handle the customer service. So looks like next week another one will come and I'll show that one off and hopefully it won't have any scuff on the blade and the wood will be better. To be continued when the next knife comes.
