Ken I was told that Case brought that grind back with the Carhartt line my Carhartt Case peanut has the same grind.

Producer love everything Lakota, cool knife, what company or maker did those? Congers up Crazy Horse and stuff, what a cool knife. Never heard of them. Learn something new every day.
Never met a Vintage Case I didn't like. 1972 Equal End/Cigar Jack. Love it more and more as time goes on. Don't know the steel type but so easy to sharpen, a few strokes and it shaves, good edge hold. Cool old style. Excellent construction, action, fit and finish. A+ overall.

Dropped this yellow rose GEC Northfield 66 in my pocket yesterday for the Packer game, figure I will tote it for a while if it helps bring such good luck to the Pack! Very solid knife, long pull, swedged main, pinched bolsters, centered blades, and some great bone. The rose shield is perfectly flush with the scales too, great knife to fondle

Just a comment on the Case-Carhartt knives. A few months back, Shepherd Hills had the Carhartt trappers with the green handles for sale at some ridiculously low price. Don't remember but I believe they were around $20, ordered 3, gave 2 to the grandsons and just now, really looked at the one I kept. It too has the "new grind". Here's a picture of it, an LT254 next to a 6254 6 dot new grind with some fancy file work.
I've noticed times the Case-Carhartt knives for sale at a reduced price, must not have been accepted by the collectors. Still for a low price they would be hard to beat for an EDC, my 2 cents worth .

Here is a little info about Lakota [ borrowed from a seller]

"Lakota Knife..Probably a BlackJack Lakota
Phillip W. Hoffmand investors began a knife company originally called Cheyenne but changed to Lakota in 1975. The knives were produced in Japan and soon widely available in the U. S. In the late 1970's the company was having financial trouble The largest investor seized the company and moved it to Oregon. Mismanaged into more trouble, the company was finally sold to Brunton.

In1983, Hoffman formed a new company, Hoffman Designs. The new lines of knives were again made in Japan. Condor Sport Knives became the new companies top lines. This company struggled and even with changes to cheapen the knives, by 1988, Hoffman was forced out and the major stockholders took over. In the early 1900's the company folded.

The Japanese suppliers had a few finished knives and components. These suppliers approached the BlackJack Knife company and the Lakota brand became the Lakota Knives Company."

I have two USA made and one small lock back which is "made in Japan" [nicely with half stop].

Fell in love when I saw this, deeper when it arrived and I held it, then to experience it for a time and feel the quality construction, great snap, great action, smooth snap, great lock up, and sweet sound is a treat. Thanks bighomer - I have been to the Mule Days celebration in Benson NC in the past. I look at that mule shield and think of US ARMY (remember Francis the Talking Mule in the old movies!) OH

My grandmother used to watch them while taking care of my sister and me.

Today is Kershaw day for me.
A little one and a big one.

OH I remember those old movies, I get on a nostalgia kick every once in a while and will watch 2 or 3 old movies on the encore or retro channels, can be great fun. That shield on that jackknife does kind of look like ole francis.

An annual Mule Days celebration is held in several places throughout the country. Until y'all started talking about the one in Tennessee, I thought the only one was in Enfield Illinois. Mule Days is one of the oldest annual celebrations in Southern Illinois, dating back to 1921.
