I'm starting a carpentry job soon, so I figured I'd get some work knives for my birthday coming up in a week.

Opinel DIY, because I've wanted one for some years now.

These are cheapo knives I bought for loaning out.

Clauss Floral Knives, box of 10. I bought these for abusive tasks like removing caulk, stripping wire, etc. At $17 for the whole box, or $1.70 each, there's no need to fret if one gets destroyed. A lot of people use these until they dull, then toss them, but I'll be resharpening these like any other knife. Made in Solingen too.

AAPK's resident superman Scott (TripleF) has made this SR6220 available to me for the user pile. Looking forward to it so I don't have to mess up the safe queens...

Looks like I won a Zippo Cut-About lockback for 10 bucks. I've always wanted an SS (not anodized or plastic like most are) scaled Zippo Cut-About. This is the Doral "Across America" version with a (quite nice) leather sheath. In my opinion, Zippo knives are excellent quality, hold a good edge, and are highly under-appreciated (going by the prices they sell for) as I think many view them as "cheap giveaway knives". Besides, I think Case made most of them anyway.

Oh, and a secondhand, but nice large saddle shop-made (Greenwood Saddlery of Council, ID) leather sheath for $10 too. Seems like it should fit most any large folder or multitool. I bought this for my Leatherman Surge.

Getting a bit antsy waiting on the Annual Blade Forums custom Buck 301 - so I ordered a Buck 102 today from Copper & Clad. It's a standard Buck 102 except for the red phenolic handle in lieu of the usual black handle. Gotta scratch that Buck itch! OH

Bruce that's a fine way of scratchin' the itch. ::tu::

I've considered starting down the red handled path myself but thus far have resisted the urge. Your picture does not make it any easier to resist.

Edit: Come to think of it, that's pretty spiffy. I wouldn't mind having one of those myself. ::hmm:: ::super_happy::

Well, I filled another space in my Old Timer collection.
I have been looking around for the past few weeks for a 5 OT and I found one this morning.
5 OT 4 inch Bruin.jpg
I didn't realize EVERYONE was looking for the same knife I was looking for.....LOL.
I have had the 5 OTG for years........ I just realized a couple of months ago that I didn't have the 5 OT....
Well, Now it is on it's way.

The 5OT & 3OT were not made in large numbers so now they are hard to find. The Uncle Henry version of the 5OT, the LB5, was made to larger numbers and is fairly easy to find.

Yep, I guess that is what I am discovering about the OT's .... AND I still haven't got the 2 OT..... ::tear::
I am not exactly stepping over into the Uncle Henry's...... YET.
I have a few UH's but I am not trying to get up a set.... YET..... LOL.
(I'm sure that time will come)

I have this hole in the cheap Chinese half of this folder I'm using for Mini-Trappers and had run out of ideas so I went looking.

And I found this Painted Desert Rough Rider I kinda liked and bought it.

But then I ran onto this Elk Ridge for $8 and decided "Oh, what the hey".

So they should both be here tomorrow or Friday and this funky RR Bow Trapper is coming along for the ride.

Jerry, you keep on with those trappers like that you will need to take up trapping, just to skin a few pelts!

Mike, those 863 Schrades are nice knives - Carpenters Whittler - always liked the name too. OH

I think it might be pretty nice. The blades look pretty good. The sellers pics are VERY poor at best but I went on the merit of the blades on the 863 and the blade etch is pretty nice on the Sod Buster.....
SO, I think I am going to be pleased when the box arrives.

Yep, I am REALLY beginning to like the Carpenters Whittler design. Jerry has done a LOT to feed that fever.
(and so has the Camillus #72 thread.....LOL)

No clue David. I have one Mike (313 Mike) gave to me back in May of '14. Saber grind on the mark side only.

Interesting!
That just shows those #72's were made with purpose.... (Maybe they ran out of shields for a time)
Another variation to hunt down.....LOL.

Nice find!!
