Don't you just love auctions ending in the middle of the week. Congratulations. You got yourself quite a deal there.

Well, I was cruzin' the bay looking at Camillus knives. I saw this #16 and felt sorry for it. I figured I might be able help it some.
Anyway, it's in the mail....
(to be continued)
Shame on who ever put this innocent little one against the grinder.

Snagged this Schatt & Morgan Wharncliffe out of Gary Kennedy's store on AAPK. Simply could not resist the Wharncliffe blade and the stag handles. Looking forward to it with a great deal of anticipation.

Thanks Gary.

Haven't bought too many knives over the last couple of months, but I have been getting interested in larger size penknives - those in the 3" to 3-1/8" size range. Bought this Case off of Knifeaholic's AAPK store this morning, Steve put it in the mail today, USPS says I'll get it Monday (I'm betting on Tuesday). Mint Senator (Eisenhower) pattern. OH

I like pen knives in that range also, and CASE of course is going to be quality (ahem... if it's a little older). Most of mine are old Schrades, with a smattering from others. I like your knife.

Thanks Cal. I've been gathering up the ones I already have, several models by Case, Buck, and Schrade USA. When I find all I have I'm going to take a group photo. OH

Well, since my last name is Turner I figured I needed a Turner made knife (other than my own).
I have noticed a few (very few) come by from time to time here in the US, but it seemed like most were made in England.
SO, I stepped in it yesterday.... I found a seller over in "the Mother Land" and sho' 'nuff, he had a Turner made knife. This one is
ON THE WAY!!!! It is a Turner Maylor & Co, Sheffield. Looks to be fairly early. Not sure about when these guys made knives...(looks like some research is in order).
Anyway... Here she is!
I'm afraid waiting for this one is gonna be like waiting on a kid to be born.
(baby goat that is)

Discovered it existed when I saw one on AAPK of course.

I guess I figured if I bought one of these I could save what it cost me within a year by changing the batteries in Linnea's pile of watches myself. Purchased internationally so it will take three weeks for it to arrive (so they say). As far as I know, it's not made in Taiwan, it's just shipped from Taiwan. I suppose there's always the possibility that it's a clone. I hope not.

Dang it Jerry.... Now I need me one of those.
I have a few pocket watches and sometimes I need a watch opener to get 'em open.
I have been using a knife blade but the actual tool would be best.

I'm almost certain those handles are celluloid and I might be paranoid but I'd say just check the "dry-looking" lighter parts on both handles with a loupe to see if there are any signs of gassing. Normally those Bokers are pretty stable over time but cell didn't earn its reputation for nothing. I hope it's stable because that's a really nice carpenter's stockman. The master looks like it was babied its whole life.

Nice find!

Thanks Tony.... I was hoping they weren't cell.... but oh well if they are.
I posted that last pick since there is a good close-up of what looks like grain in the material.

Mike, you need to splurge and get yourself one of those 45X mini-microscopes. Sold on eBay, they are less than $2 out of China. Takes a while to get delivered but well worth the wait.
I agree. There seems to be "texture" to those handles that you wouldn't see with Celluloid. Especially around the bolsters and shield. Tough to see in a picture but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say horn.

2 whole bucks huh? Well, I recon I might have to splurge and get me one. LOL.....
I don't know a lot about what to look for when it comes to cell but I will be learning more (I hope).......
I was hoping the "layering" in the one close-up pic was a sign that the scales were not cell.....

I'm with Tony and I'm a worry wart anyway, but it may be starting to out gas. It may be my imagination and I hope it is, anyway it's a gorgeous looking knife and would still look good with some new handles on it. Mike I wish you good luck.

Clear the moths out of your pocketbook and find your seller choices here ---►

Until I'm proven wrong, I'm sticking with not Cell. I've noticed, in the few examples I've seen, that the first signs are a darkening of the edges (kind of a brownish color) around the shield and/or around the edges of the bolsters.

Well, I'm trying another order from China - I'm a glutton for punishment...
I ordered this new Ganzo - the first Ganzo with D2 steel.

This 'un is in the mail.... Old coke bottle. It's a ugly old cuss but it might just clean up to look OK.
Looks like one of the blades is a file or was made from a file.

Mike do you think it was a repair? Looks like it was a worker. Show us when you get it all cleaned up. That is an HOWK.

Did you get that nice Ulster Jack that seller also had? If you did, I'm glad it was a fellow AAPK member that did.
