Don't know if it was that great of a deal, but it was the one I wanted. There is a guy there now with two similar sets, one a Heritage and the other a Scrimshaw. For some reason he has switched the knives and trays in the displays. He has in his description what it says on the inside of the lid, with the wrong knives and tray in the display. ::dang:: Pretty funny! I don't hardly ever try to correct sellers anymore, but I had to say something to him about it. Especially since he wants over 400 bucks for each set, which is pretty funny too.

I picked up this Schrade Walden 895 with jigged bone handles for $18.00 and put a lot of elbow grease into it. Started with 600 wet dry and finished with 2000. Pretty darn happy with the result ::groove::

Great looking bone and blades! ::tu:: I haven't worked up the courage to start using sand paper yet. I've done some study on it and know what to get and how to use it, but have been dragging my feet. I was going to start by doing an action job on my S&W 3913 pistol first, using a very good youtube instruction video for guidance. Kinda get a feel for it on something that doesn't show and needs doing. Thanks for this encouragement! I have a 61OT that I will do first. Since your showing off your boney stockman, I haven't shown you that recent purchase I made after I cleaned it up with just some Blue Magic Metal Polish Paste and the Dremel. Stainless steel not being the same restoration job as your's, of coarse.

That is one beautiful knife. Good eye, catching that on Ebay. If you ever sell it, I would like the chance to put in a bid. ::tu::

Thanks. One question. Did you use the wet sanding method on the bolsters too? They sure sparkle! You could signal rescue aircraft with that thing! Accidentally blind yourself! 8)

I used a dremel with green buffing compound and a felt pad, and then Flitz polish

Okay, I'll bite. What do you mean, 'sorta'? Did they have a knife show in the motel? Or do you have the best finders 'keepers losers weepers' stories in all of knife collecting history?

You guys found some gems at the Blade Show. I stopped in one of my regular country gunshop haunts this morning and picked up this Schrade Uncle Henry LB5 - NIB with all it's papers and it's sheath. Looks to be a safety award knife from the Glaxo pharmaceutical plant in Raleigh that was built a number of years ago by Gilbane. OH

Mike, Most of the gunshops here are also pawnshops and most of the pawnshops sell guns - virtually all of them will buy good used knives as well as guns. These shops are where I find many of my older knives - this particular shop is known for buying knives, so he gets a lot of Case, Buck, Schrade, etc. He puts the brands back that he knows I like and waits for my monthly trip to Fort Bragg - then he brings them out and I pull out my wallet! OH
garddogg56 wrote:She's a beauty OH,is an LB5 the size of a Buck 501??
Dogg, this knife is very close in size to a Buck 501 Esquire - the blade is shaped most like a Buck 55, but is as big as the 501. OH
