Trying to figure out what to name my 8902 A.T.S.F. Columbia steamer with a Lionel 1130 Scout motor that I just painted. So far I'm calling it the "Desert Arrow." The bottom paint is supposed to be Turquoise, which I thought was New Mexico appropriate. It can really pull even though it's a plastic body, thanks to the motor weight and traction "tires."
Any suggestions? Maybe I should call it the Desert Scout?
Sweeeeeeet John! What scale is that? My N-Scale is a bit too small. I think that I need something bigger.
That is a nice video, John. Kirkwood station that is mentioned, is a classic. It was built in 1893 by/for Missouri Pacific, definitely worth a look for any railfan who happens to be in St Louis area.

Nice shot, David, looks like late afternoon sun?
Good video, John! I especially enjoyed the narration.
At midday, I had already seen 3 coal trains, here is one I caught comin' round the bend.
A couple of really good posts, David!
I love those old depots, and that shot of the Harvey House is high class! I am living in the wrong era!!!
Thank you Ike. I like the depots also. The rural town I grew up in from the 6th grade on still had a working depot. Not sure when they closed it. For many years after it closed it still had the telegraph key in it. They finally tore it down. It was a sad day. I'm trying to find a pic of it. When I do I'll post a pic of it.

Fennville? Are you headed to Crane's Pie Pantry?
It has been 10 years, or so, since I have been through Fennville, nice town.

Just a thought. New Mexico is know for it's turquoise. And I assume that Indians used & still use that stone in their jewelry. A tribe name?

Thanks, Tom! Since Santa Fe "Chief" and "War Bonnet" are already used, I tried to come up with something different. That's why I decided on Desert Arrow. Not sure if A.T.S.F. had passenger service using a specially painted loco, like the Central New Jersey Blue Comet? Lionel does have a Blue Streak loco.
Trying to keep it original.
Cool pictures, everyone!

A little vid I did over the weekend of an Illinois Central F3 powered and dummy units that belonged to my dad, pulling a zoo car consist with bobbing giraffes. All are considered post-War except for the green zoo car. Lionel MPC also made brown Detroit and red L.A. zoo cars and an elephant zoo car. The blue ones are Bronx, NY and the green is W. Orange, NJ.
