I don't know much about hawks other than I love to see them around. In looking online for a bit it seems to be a Coopers Hawk. I never really heard of them but apparently they're in Michigan.

I think it's coopers they do like to eat birdies, we'uns calls'um chicken hawks in the hills of Tn. Nice photos.

These ole hens are coming 2 or 3 times a day, I figure they are nesting in my hay field.

For some reason, I have always been a big fan of chickens & turkeys. I read this book several years ago and my fondness of wild turkeys was magnified. It's a good book & this true story takes place in Florida!

Sharp-Shinned Hawks feed predominantly on other birds, especially the male. The females are a bit larger and will take small rodentia.

We had a nesting pair here last Summer. They staked out my feeders and got a few meals. Fascinating to watch them chasing a bird in flight and all the cuts and dodging that occurred.

Always makes me think of the aerial combat of the World Wars. Being a fly-boy myself, I find myself drawn to those scenes in movies like Tora! Tora! Tora! and Midway.

A bit odd: I had a Grackle show up this morning with no tail. Can only speculate as to how he lost it. My first impression was that it was a Starling. Looks like the Red-Wings like the neighborhood. A few come up to feed, but they like our lower field near our little creek. However they will be disappointed when it drys up in a few weeks.

Red breasted fussed at the boss and me all afternoon as we worked in her building. Redheaded came by for a snack. The rarely come by. an extremely beautiful bird. These things ain't rare at all .

WOW.. The Eaglets are getting big.. We had some HARD rain pass thru early am today.. Mom/Dad are trying to keep the Eaglets dry.. Clearing now so hopefully they all can dry out and warm up.. Tomorrow night we are supposed to get rain then low 20s for temps..

Yup. Growing up fast.
What amazes me is the size of their beaks! Look almost to big for their body!

I'm interested in seeing when the adults stop mouth feeding the young who look big enough to me to rip into a fish without assistance. But obviously nature knows better than I.

The redhead is back this, so are the turkeys.

Saw a couple a thousand gulls go over this morning while taking the dog for a walk. They just kept coming! Amazing.

I saw kites in AZ closeup. They are a spectacular bird.
