Gorgeous bones and knife all around. Love that one. Congrats.

danno50 wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 3:54 pm Hi Georgiy, ::welcome:: to AAPK. Very nice old knife. ::tu:: I believe your knife is a K6559. In Alvin Sellens guide to Keen Kutter pocket knives, the only scout listed with a sabre spear blade was the 6559. He also says the sabre spear was used from 1913 to 1920, however, he also says that the knife length from 1913 to 1920 was 3 3/4"?? I believe that the Keen Kutters with no stamped pattern number, as yours, are early, Walden made knives.
Here is my K6559 for comparison. It is also 3 5/8". I believe yours probably had a similar inked on pattern number when new?

Beautiful as well danno, love the bones and looks like fabulous condition. Score.

Stanwade wrote: Fri Feb 05, 2021 8:56 pm All I can say for sure is that it's pre-1940.. I used to have a different tang stamp chart that differentiated E.C. Simons era tang stamps by the lettering and other subtle differencs including the wedge in the logo.. I can't find it right now..

Did you ever find that chart?

I have never seen a chart that dated EC Simmons era tang stamps? Sellens does give a couple of examples, but dates are a wide range. Below are a few different variations of EC Simmons Keen Kutter stamps that I have.

First are a couple examples of the standard tang stamp, in use from 1905 right through to late 1939.

Here is one that is missing the MO under St Louis
RIMG1965.JPG
Below is the standard wedge and bar but with ears at the top of the wedge. This is commonly thought to denote a knife made by Camillus.
RIMG1988.JPG
Below is an example of a stamp that has MADE/IN/USA in place of the standard ST/LOUIS. Sellens says it is believed that this stamp was used for a short period sometime in the 1920s. I have quite a few with this stamp.
RIMG1973.JPG
Below are a couple of examples of what I think is a bit of a rare stamp. It has the ears at the top of the wedge and MADE/IN/USA. I have three knives with this stamp and have only seen one other example posted anywhere. I have no idea of a date range, other than sometime between 1905 and 1939, obviously.

RIMG1958.JPG
Below is a stamp I have only seen once. It is on a pruner posted by Waynorth (upnorth on AAPK) over on BF. It has ST LOUIS/USA.
