Greg - Great point about Thompson and Gascoigne !! When I was searching Gascoigne that was the first that appeared relative to starting Empire Knife... I know Thompson and Gascoigne were both Englishman but the strange thing is that no matter how long I searched for them and looked in references there is not any mention of their first names and more importantly I couldn't find any info on their background nor their knives with tang stamps - so its an interesting possibility in the right time frame but I may have to dig deeper into different searches - so far no luck....

I’m no expert David, but I think it’s genuine tortoise. When I bought it I assumed celluloid. But if I give it the “rub and smell” test it doesn’t give off any odor. At least not any my old nose can detect.

If others have opinions feel free to weigh in. I have $1.50 invested in it so it’s not gonna hurt my feelings!

Ken - Cool oldie - also looks like celluloid to me ...

3 1/8" stag 4 blade senator marked: "E.K.Tryon Co/Philadelphia" with etch on master blade "Tryon".
Somewhere i have a stag Schrade Cut Co. senator and the stag looks similar to the Tryon. Do you know who made the E.K. Tryon knives ?

That's definitely old and one I have never heard of New Windsor. This is a Blue Ribbon and my guess is it is a Belknap Hwd. brand.

Nice Tryon KJ - sweet handles ... very cool seeing stag on a senator or pen knife

LD64 - Very nice Blue Ribbon ... interesting knife with the flat bottom bolster which is usually seen on Drs knives .. yet this knife and the master blade in particular suggests not a Drs knife... are the handles faux tortoise celluloid??

Pretty sure its celluloid LongBlade. It favors a doctors knife, I wondered about it also?
