Snapped some pictures this morning of that Schrade Uncle Henry 833UH USA that came yesterday. Looks to me like it's in factory condition. 3¼" closed. I could be wrong but it appears to be recent manufacture (last 15 years that Schrade was still in business).

Was Uncle Henry a premium Schrade brand or a value brand?

Jerry, nice 833UH (same knife as your recently acquired 33OT). The knives are equal in quality, but the Uncle Henry used to sell for a bit more and "featured" stainless steel vs. the carbon steel blades that came on most Old Timers. The Uncle Henry had nicer, Stagalon faux-stag Delrin handles (again a matter of opinion) and had a gurantee about loss that the Old Timer's didn't offer. I remember back when I was a knife owner and user, prior to being a collector, I thought theUncle Henry was the Cadillac of the two. Also I see yours was a National Wild Turkey Federation promotional knife of some sort - the 70% must have been for a certain level of donation. OH

Ps Now you'll have to see if there was an Imperial Frontier variation of that medium jack. (Always one more!!)

Jerry, I have the smaller Wild Turkey Federation 12UH like that 833UH.
The Uncle Henry had a premium price too.
In 1991 the 33OT was $20.95 and the 833UH was $24.95... Ken.

Thanks for the info Ken.

I'm going back and forth with myself, trying to decide whether or not to try to scrub the etch off the main blade. Currently it's just a battle in my head.

Jerry, I believe knives with a blade etch sell better and even look better when displayed.
A etched blade can also help to date the knife, some-times.
I could be wrong, and it's only a guess on my part - that knife is a very late 2003-04 knife.
My 12OT came from the 2004 Schrade sale...Ken. ::tu::

Thanks Ken. I'll probably leave it alone because what ever I did to get the etch off would change the factory finish on the blade. I understand that this no collector but it's a collector for me (if that makes sense).

Just picked up a Schrade 233 off eBay. It flew under the radar all week and I was the only bidder. Seller says the blades have good snap but just a slight amount of wobble. I'm eager to get it to see what the condition really is.

Looks fairly decent from the seller's picture. I'm not super picky, especially since I got it for what I consider a decent price. This one I will scrub up and do a certain amount of cleaning on.

That is an outstanding Old Timer to dip your toe into the delrin pool with. I used to have just about all the cataloged Old Timers but now I'm just interested in a few Schrade+ and limited edition or odd/rare models. The 44OT is an exception and one that I have never owned. Purdy nice! ::tu::

I looked that up and saw they were made from 1990 to 1993 and then a special production run of 4000 in 2001. I had been watching for one for some time and when I found this one I felt pretty lucky.

Thanks guys.
The bottom one with the 809M tang stamp belonged to my Uncle Fred. It was the first knife in my collection, and my favorite.

Kgold,

That Set of Red Bones is gorgeous! I was able to snag a set of those myself this year and they are a handsome addition to my Schrade Room.
