It was a two-fisted, all American day for me, here are today's "favorites". A 70's Camillus-made Buck 301, and a Case Carhartt Caliber Zytel lockback, (a GREAT knife for the money BTW, unappreciated I think). Both in sheaths, one on each side.

I hear ya on the Case Zytel Lockback, BayKeeper.
Slim, light, nice lockup and sharp. Plus the "no name " one is quite inexpensive.
I love mine and agree these Case knives are underated

Not just Case being overlooked, this particular series of Case knives is especially unappreciated IMHO. They are the best bang for the buck as far as US-made knives is concerned, and I wouldn't have to worry at all if I dropped it off a ten story building I bet....lightweight and tough, (as well as sharp). The only thing that would make them better would be a lanyard hole, but other than that this series of knives is great. They have Trapper, Muskrat, & Stockman patterns with Zytel handles as well, and I think I want one of each.

I need to put the camera to work.
Right now I have a CRKT Hammond Cruiser that I got out of a pass around box from another forum. It is a big fat knife. Flipper as I love flippers!

I had to google that one. Looks like a solid built knife.

I'm going to start the weekend off with this trio.
A Schrade 895, a Kershaw scallion, and a Boker single blade trapper.

1976 Case Whaler sheep foot in walnut with a bail. 4 1/8 closed, 7 1/4 open. Solid lock up, great snap open, closed and half stopped. Smooth, tight, wobble free action and lock up. Slim for a large folder, nice carry, not too heavy, great with the kids because no sharp point, the tip quite blunt. But razor sharp, love this old steel, takes great edge, holds it and an easy sharpen. So much like my GEC Viper and Northwoods Freemont action, snap and feel. Wonder if this is where GEC got the inspiration. This is better than any new Case, don't know why they quit making them like this.

Ivoryman -- Welcome to AAPK. Glad to have you aboard. I'm not much of a Case guy but I sure like the looks of that one.

2014 GEC Viper #47 Antique Amber bone, Wharncliffe SS. Great action, snap open, closed, halfed. Great jigging texture for grip, lock up is solid as a rock. Everything is even, flush, smooth, perfect. 3 3/4 closed, 6 3/4 open, decent carry because it's thin, not too heavy. Great knife period. Lying on chunks and slabs of the raw Elephant tusk for the bead.

Many thanks Jerryd, for the compliments and welcome. This one is great, and so are several case I have from the '70's and a couple from late '60's, even my '83 and '84 are rock solid, beautiful, quality pieces right up there with my GEC's. Hope you can check some out and good day to ya.

1965-69 Half Stockman 08244 (serpentine) 3 3/8 closed, 5 3/4 open, 3/8 thick. 1973 Half Whittler seven dot 6208 (swell center) 3 1/4 closed, 5 9/16 open. On both fit and finish are excellent, flush, even, smooth transitions, lock up great, no wobble, steel liners, flawless bone and jigging, excellent snap, open and closed, beautiful red bone even better than these pictures, steel holds an edge great. Two of the prettiest Case I have and nearly the oldest. Also two very solid, flaw free knives that get looks. Carry them in the nice clothes. Examples of Case that to me measure up today.

Yes, those are beautiful Case knives, but just wait until you see what's about to arrive in the mail, Mr. Ivoryman.

PS--Love the ivory carvings...do you make them yourself and/or sell them?

Thanks tons blade brother, vintage beauties indeed. The ivory are walrus teeth, some as they come from Boone's Trading Co. Brinnon, WA and some after I carve faces on them. Don't hunt Walrus, but do buy mineralized "fossil" Walrus teeth which are ivory like the tusks, then carve and polish them.
