Nice one! I've made a rule that whatever GEC I buy will look like it was made in the '30s, which that fits the bill (though mine will likely be wood).

Excellent pick up, Mike. The Camillus #14 is a great medium size Jack and I just love 'em to death. They don't normally sell for a lot of money (under $20) and it's difficult for me to keep from hoarding them.

I love the jigging on the scales!
I am really beginning to appreciate Camillus knives. I have very few right now but I think my collecting taste has taken a turn toward Camillus. I have 3 or 4 - 72's so now I am looking around at other styles that tickle my fancy.

This Boker hunter is on its way to me. Not bad for a $10 knife.
It needs some attention. A good cleaning and some re-shaping on the main blade since the tip is missing. Looks pretty solid otherwise.

Let myself be suckered into another Camillus #14 (No. 11 for me). I'm betting it looks better in person.

I currently have four Canal Street knives stalled out in the postal pipeline. Apparently a chemical spill in Coppell, Texas has caused all forward movement of my knives to cease for several days. ::pace:: ::pace::
Thankfully I'm dealing with a trusted fellow AAPK member so I'm not sweating it too bad.

It was a mercury spill. I think I read that it was 4 lbs or gallons (?) of Mercury.

"According to the United States Postal Service, about four gallons of mercury spilled from a mailed package inside their north Texas distribution center on Tuesday, causing the building to close temporarily."

I just hope that mercury didn't spill on my box of knives. ::suspense::

This takes me back to high school chemestry class where we played with mercury by pouring it out into the palm of our hands and watching it roll around like a little ball. How did we survive ?

Those ulster knife co stamped jr cattle knives are dandy. They are also very, very similar to a schrade cut co 8563 3/4 or an early schrade walden 856. I think schrade may have sourced the bone for the ulsters.

I have an ulster like that and two early S-W 856's. Side by side the only notable difference is the ulster has steel bolsters and liners while the schrades have ns bolsters and brass liners. All my examples have the factory edges and are in nice condition so the comparison is pretty accurate.
