I hope you post your pics. I have never heard of a SP9. Did you by any chance mean SP8?

This almost mint 8OT has Saw-cut bone handles, looks like it has Derlin handles.
I have all the bling. However, the insert in the box is not original.
I believe it was made pre 1963 with that box showing in flyers, around that time.
The box is made of wood and covered with paper that looks like wood - the original insert also had the same wooden look.

I also have another 8OT the same, the blade and Saw-cuts have been polished a little.

As yet I have not seen any information, that makes me think the first 8OTs came in a box.
I have flyers with the 2OT in a box and the 8OT alongside without a box.
I have price lists, indicating the 8OTs were sold by the dozen and the next year listed in a box.

I have tried to research the early history of the Schrade 8OT, everyone has a different opinion.
I now believe the first 8OTs were sold in 1960, without a box, with the sharp-ended-shield.
In 1961 the 8OTs were sold in a wooden box, and using the oval shield. (1963 - 2004)

The box shown with my 1961 Saw-cut Bone handled 8OT, is the box used in 1963, for the first 8OT that used the Dalrin handles. Schrade called the handle material "Meerschaum Bone"used for the early 8OTs made after the bone handled knives.

I could be wrong, and I would like to be corrected by any sound evidence.

This one is a little different, most of the Miner TM-2 are a single blade, This one has a TM-4 model #

That's a new one on me and I like the looks of it! What years were they made?

Nice knife. Those Tradesman knives are some of my favorites, except for the green ones.

What you have there is a TM-4, somehow that ended up with the Miner blade etch and shield. More than likely an end of days knife.

The Tradesman Series were done in 1981. There were three different sets, Brown, Red and Green Bone. The serial numbers start with B,R,or G for brown, red and green. There were a total of 6000 sets produced. I fortunately have one of all three sets in the frames.

I've seen the wrong blade on a knife and the wrong shield but not when the shield matches the etch and the blade's tang stamp matches the knife. This is the display I did of the green, red and brown bone Tradesman and Schrade Parkers. The center knife is the 1978-1 Schrade Parker in stag with a Tennessee Stockman etch. I put the he barlow in the top left corner to fill in the space

Thanks Grant, The guy I bought this one from had the Paul Revere model too (with sawcut red Delrin handles), but I only bought the Minuteman - for the Minuteman theme. OH

I have one 61 OT and love it so , you know, got to find another one.
The new one does look unused, factory edge etc.

It's fun comparing it to the one I've been using. Got to say the snap is snappier on all three blades with the older one. The new one is good with good snaps, especially the main but the older one is a Schnauzer all the way around.

The new one came with a box, plastic sleeve and paper. I'm not sure of the date of mfg but I've seen other similar boxes from 1991--. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Love this pattern, so slim yet packing a lot of blade. Just like the Camillus #69's.
Man, those companies knew what they were doing.

Found this one last week.
