The wife and I went to see Junior & Co. Sunday night at The Birchmere here in Alexandria. Her first time seeing both. At 74, he still brings it on the Guit-Steel, and his band (including his wife) are some very gifted musicians. Stand-up bass player got worked, and the drummer does a solo that is amazing.
30 some odd years ago when I first went to Hard Times chili parlor here in Old Town Alexandria, this song used to play on the jukebox almost every time I visited, mostly for lunch.
A few months ago he appeared on the RFD TV show, Malpass Brothers, so you can get a gander at how he's aged over his musicial career. His wife, now 63, looks the same.
He's still a wild man and has it in my book.

Junior Brown is the real deal! Talented and innovative musician, one of the best guitarists around. He did a live YouTube show every week during Covid. All the performance venues were closed so he and his wife did a live performance on YouTube and collected voluntary contributions from the audience to pay their bills. It was great!

Played a show with Junior Brown about ten years ago. Him, his wife on rhythm guitar, and a drummer with one drum. Sounded like a six piece band. What a fireball he is. During COVID I saw a video of him, with his wife, playing for a hat in front of some mall. Folks don't know how hard musicians were affected by that lousy virus. Hungry times! Love Junior Brown! J.O'., Junior mentioned during the show that he had friends in the audience from Crownesville, MD. Don't know who that might be. That sow was in Gambrills, Anne Arundel County, MD. at the old Naval Academy dairy farm which was bought by Horizon Organic. It was a great weekend, Junior and Doc knocked them dead. We are the Good Deale Bluegrass Band. The poster hangs on my "Wall OF Shame"

@Ridgegrass, that looks like a great lineup. And "Good Deale Bluegrass" is mentioned on Mr. Auldridge's Wikipedia page. But I suspect you already knew that.

Bill, after Good Deale hung it up, Mike and I did a bunch of private things and just hung out in his basement, picking for hours just for pure enjoyment. We also did a few gigs with Ricky Simpkins on fiddle and mandolin, Chris Walls on bass at a great little intimate venue called The Wagon Shed in New Freedom, PA. Then we played some Americana/Country gigs with a great electric guitar guy named Gantt Kushner and Greg Hardin on bass. Mike played mostly pedal steel and some 6 and 8 string Dobro. Truth was, the basement jams were the most fun for the relaxed camaraderie and crazy cutting up. He had a great sense of humor.
Mike was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2001 and it started really getting him down around 2010-11. We still had our jams but they got shorter and he finally had to stop altogether. He was a dear friend, and he took me to musical heights I never dreamed an old bar whacker like I was would ever go. I miss him every time I pick up my axe, but the memories are all good.
