Nice Microtech GSP.

I haven't been posting here as much because you guys have seen just about every knife in my carry and use department. However, I got a new one the other day that is destined to be used a lot.
VERY NICE ::tu:: THAT IS A GREAT LITTLE KNIFE! ::nod::

Got another new addition to my EDC rotation and took it for a walk this evening with the Magnificent Muffin Head.

I posted these photos on the "other sharp objects" forum, however that thread gets very few views compared to the General Knife Discussion Forum. So I thought I would post these photos in this thread as well, ::paranoid:: as this spear can be used as a short sword or a big knife. ::paranoid::

Years ago I was in East Africa, backpacking around in the north of Kenya. I met a blacksmith in a small town and I went to his "forge" You can see it the lower photos) and I bought a few spears, axes and knives from him. I took some photos and had a local guy take a few pictures of me at the forge. Here is a picture of me next to the forge and the black smith working on an ax head for me. A little kid is working the bellows (two tire inter tubes). The guy in the red cap is making the shaft. The anvil is a piece of railroad track. The spear in my top pictures was made in that forge. This is a Maasai Lion Spear (there is a lower iron part -sometimes called the "shoe"- and it is not on the spear in the above photos).

Back then I was just a guy with a backpack and the bad judgement to buy about 30 lbs. of forged metal that had to be carried around for a few weeks in the middle of nowhere. ::doh:: Now I am just a guy with bad judgement in general. ::facepalm::

Messing around with the camera this morning, finally added a lens hood to it, I think it has helped, exposure seems to be closer to spot on. Had to do very little correction.

Thanks Dan, got it from Q, he's the guy who finds and scores such first rate knives so he deserves half the credit.

A picture may be worth 1000 words, but to convey the full extent of such beauty would require an entire gallery of photos...not to mention a library full of thesauruses (thesauri?) So, let me get started with a few that I managed to shoot in the brief seconds during which I was able to force myself to let it go long enough to take a pic or two (or 200!).

This is all thanks to Ivoryman...he found it, he bought it and then, in a supreme gesture of friendship and brotherhood that absolutely boggles the mind, he agreed to trade it to me (for a paltry handful of 'magic beans' and sketchy promises, no less). Wow, What a guy...and what a beautiful knife! You Da Man, Brah. (I'm pinching myself black and blue to be sure I'm not dreaming, this is just too surreal for words.)

For example...right after I snapped this pic...
P7170036.JPG

...a flower blossom fell off an overhanging plant and landed right in the perfect spot for another, even better, photo (notice the few drops of morning dew still on the petal). I could be mistaken, but I have to believe this is nothing less than a blessing from The Universe. ::nod::
P7170037.JPG

That's going to be a hard one to top, so I'll just show a couple more in different light with different rocky backgrounds that I like.

P7170035.JPG

I realize that this may seem like a bit of overkill, but believe me, it was no easy task choosing just a few from the literally hundreds of photos I ended up taking. But, hey, let's be honest, haven't we all been there and done that...probably more often than we'd care to admit...Thank Heavens for digital photography because in the olden days I surely would have had to spend more on film and processing than on the knives themselves
