Vit, where did you find those? All three look factory fresh. How does someone halfway around the world get his hands on American iron that looks like that? Congratulations.

Is the one in the top picture a #14?

...jerry, I've got it's brother, but I always thought since it was that new that the handles were synthetic, so I got out the 45X magnifier that you sent me, and they are bone-now I'm even more pleased with it-thanks for the heads up(and the magnifier), my friend!!!!............... ::ds:: ....................

Here is a knife that appears to have been styled by Jackson Pollock. It's a Camillus made knife marked Syracuse Knife Co. The knife is a shell handled knife and the design looks like it is painted on.

Goins gives dates of 1935 - 1940 which actually predates Pollock, but it is certainly reminiscent of his work.

I'll be darned. I don't think I've ever seen a Camillus shell handle knife. Ya just learn something new every day on AAPK.

Jerry,

It's not actually marked Camillus, it's marked Syracuse, which was a Camillus brand. You can still see the Camillus DNA in the shape of the shield and blades. Just speculating, but Camillus may have used the Syracuse brand to compete with the cheaper Imperial made knives of the time, since there was still a Depression going on in 1935.

It's actually a pretty solid knife.

I only have one Syracuse and although it's cheaply made, it's not a shell handle. ::shrug::

Cato, that's a very smart looking knife. At 4" very desirable, at least to me.

Man, that's some fairly good looking cell and I like that Muskrat main blade. Dad gummed shame that Cell is so untrustworthy 'cause I sure like the looks of them.

Hope you don't mind. I diddled with your picture a little bit.
