All About Pocket Knives

I mowed my cousin’s lawn today. She gave me two of my uncle’s knives. One was this beautiful little Robeson 822183. It was probably given to my uncle by my dad Dean Wm. Burrell. We usually had a few of these around. Dad would get them from his first cousin Emerson Case, President of Robeson. Every knife has a story.

Nice! I had a 10375 as I'd bought the "Earth Brown" G-10 version for myself, and gave my Granddad the Trapper. Well, I wanted the Trapper, and we traded. I am currently carrying a Moore Maker (Queen) version that is a little bit bigger, but will eventually get a yellow CV 3375; if I can't find a halfway decent used, older bone example.

Very nice knife! Even more special in that you grew up in the cutlery industry.

Sometimes, the worst looking knives have an interesting history. Among my worst are my most sentimental knives--the Old Timer and Colonial Electrician I was given the summer after I turned 10 (and the first real knives I had), my first real Swiss Army Knife, my Granddad's work knife from the coal mines, and another that was a good friend's. I also have the knife my great-Granddad carried most of his life, knives his best friend used for many years (Granddad bought the man's collection when he passed), and the Japanese "Hobo" Dad carried in BSA and Venture Scouts.

Six years ago, my Granddad's older brother passed away. Granddad and I were both adamant "We want some of his knives". My great uncle rarely bought, and never carried cheap knives, except as beaters. He was a Case man. He often carried a stag Stockman. Well, my granddad's sisters let several people pick over them, people my great-uncle didn't even know. You see, both of them were really greedy and money crazy, and were accused before of mishandling my great-Grandmother's estate. The good knives were mostly gone, as were any practical EDC patterns that were Case. What was left was pretty banged up. He passed in October, and it wasn't until March of the next year I got a (unusable/broken) CVA muzzleloader, and a toolbox with knives and some reloading stuff. In them was his '65-69 Case 6265 Folding Hunter. Really well used, and the skinner was tipped. Many collectors (and probably the resellers too--as I think a couple pawnbrokers were involved; and may have purchased the nicest knives--it's what happened when my Granddad's brother-in-law passed, and I didn't get a chance on ANY knives--and got outbid on those that ended up on eBay) would've passed, but I ended up with it, and a few other really nice, but kinda rough knives that had been passed over (a lightweight Gerber lockback rarely not in my pocket, and my first Buck 110 which despite owning 3 others, I still carry the most). But, the Case was most important--it was his favorite deer hunting knife. I carry it every now and then. I found a sheath that was period-correct to the knife, and it's how I choose to carry it.

If anyone has any info on who you think made this knife, I would appreciate it.

So, I like finding a Queen knife just like your Queen #47 winterbottom bone A great usable nice made by a great American knife making company, at a great price, that still has a lot of life and use left in it. That sort of find then goes right into my "EDC drawer" and then into one of my pockets. If it is in too nice of condition... it might just go into a glass display case and not get used as it should be

Two rigging/Sailor's knives/ A Camullis and a Schrade. Need to clean the Schrade up a bit. I hate even a speck of rust!

GSPTOPDOG....looking at that Camillus brings back some great memories for me. I carried one of those during my Navy tenure for many years and it got a lot of use. One of the most solid & sturdy knives I've ever used. Don't know what happened to it, but I wish now I still had it.

I also carried a rigger's knife when I was in the Navy. Finding another is an eventual goal. GSPTOPDOG's is especially nice.

Found this one at the flea market today.Tang has been ground away but the knife hasn't been sharpened other than the factory edge.Likely a second.Pretty sure it is an old Imperial as I have a near identical one that has a shield and green/gold glitter handle inserts. This one has wood grain inserts. For $5 I wasn't about to leave it there.First pic is the newest one and the second is the old one.

Thanks Marco! I really like them too. I think I'm going to do some digging, and see if they have anymore patterns with the slant bolsters. Because I REALLY NEED some more knives!!
