That second one is the cats pajamas! I pretty much detest spey blades and generally turn them into spear or pen, but the blade in that position on that knife is KEEN!

I hear lots of guys not liking the spey blades. Growing up on the farm, we used spey blades for their intended purpose! Now that I'm not using one for that purpose any more, I have found other uses for them. They're awesome for skinning game and any other thing needing delicate work. But for day to day use a pen blade is pretty darn awesome.

The spey on the old one there is neat as it was Camillus' own patented version, the camillus castrator.

I don't think that the first knife is a Camillus manufacture. It appears to me to be a Winchester made knife. Winchester made knives for Montgomery Wards and this knife appears to be an example. The shield, spey blade and bone jigging are absolutely typical for Winchester. The location of the nail pull far out on the blade is also common for Winchester (even more so for Utica) but less so for Camillus.

I'm just going on Pete Cohen's word. That was the one he was most adamant was Camillus. According to him the spey was a camillus design called the camillus castrator. Hmmm. Do you have a similar winchester? I'd love to see it

I see what's going on. I took a bad picture. Let me take another when I get home tonight, if I can take a better pic I think the differences will be pretty visible.

That spay blade on the Winchester is very distinctive Mark. Kinda hard to miss.

Here are a couple pics of the spey in question. I think these will clear it up. I don't thing there's muc resemblance to the winchester spey, it's just that my first pics weren't that great. Lol

I fell head over heels in love with that Camillus #35 so when I saw this Camillus #29 (same exact knife, different handles) I had to have it. It came today and it's almost perfect factory condition. I'm thrilled to have it even though I'm not much on the trapper pattern.

It must be a reasonable rare knife.When I did a search on ebay's completed list there was only two in 190 knives.

Cool Cuz! My 9 year old has one that my daddy gave him. I love it, and I'm not a huge trapper fan either. It has an awesome saber ground clip, I guess that's why I like it. IGreat score.

Grant -- I paid a good bit more than I wanted to but it was the only one I had seen.

Cuz -- For me, it's the Turkish clip blade AND the saber grind. As I said in your spay blade thread, I'm not a fan of that particular blade but the long thin profile of this spay blade is almost attractive to me. Throw in the half stops on both blades and the 3-7/8" length, it all works to make a fine knife.

Hi Jerry, what is the difference between your Camillus Trapper, and this Schrade Trapper? Ken.

I haven't been searching crazy hard, just when I think about it. Now I'm thinking about it darn it! Lol.

How hard are they to come across? Rare? Pricey? My boy's is the only one I've seen, but imREALLY like it. Much better than any other trapper I've seen or owned.

Ken -- What's the closed length on the Schrade and does it have half-stops? The Camillus is 3-7/8" and has half-stops on both blades. The most obvious differences is the Camillus has a swedge on the main blade and the nail nicks on both blades are in a different spot. On the Camillus way forward on the main and on the pile side of the spay blade.

Cuz -- I only see two #29s and three #35s that have sold on eBay. Prices on those don't seem to me to be outrageous, less than $50.

No half-stops. Blade length is the same as you Camillus (3-7/8") - much the same frame as the Schrade 194OT.
The 194OT has only one blade and a line-locker.

Schrade made this John Primble, in the early 1970's.
The Blue bone set was a set Schrade made in 2002-2003.(most were not finished)
The Duck Trapper was in the Schrade 2004 catalogue, most knives I have seen were not finished.
The 886UH was made by Camillus. Ken

I've been searching for another #18 Jack for over a year since I really like the style.
Anyway I stumbled upon one, actually two as part of a package deal that also contained a well used #72[3 pin] and like new Schrade 77OT Muskrat.
The black #18 is well used but has great snap and no blade wobble.
The #72 same. Well used,good snap, no wobble. Both will be good users.
The brown #18 is like new.
It's -10 outside so excuse the poor flash photos.

Harold, you lucky duck, you. The #18 looks like it's in factory condition. Those are some really nice acquisitions. Isn't that #18 a great knife? I don't see the #72 anywhere in your pictures. Get some snaps and show it to us along with the other #18.

Do you have any #14s, 29s, 24s or 35s? As much as you like the #18, I'm betting you would like those patterns too.

I forgot to add these two latest pickups to this thread. A #29 and a #18 that were kinda sorry looking when I received them but cleaned up quite nicely. Both are the italized tang stamp from '7x-'8x.

The #18 [brown] IS in factory condition. Seller said "not sharpened, not carried" and he was correct. Said he carried the #18 black one.
There is a black #14 in the bottom pic and the #72 above that pic.
I don't have #29's 24's, or 35's yet.

Nice #18 and #29-wow!

Just a few pics taken outside this morning in western Mass where it's about 10 degrees out.
There are pics of the recently acquired #18 and of it's brother which you can tell has a shorter main in the top view.
Also pics of the black #18 and a black #14 jack that I had.
A #72 just acquired [3 pins] with it's mate..
