Philip, I realize taking that buck was a good thing, but much better is that you are up and about and feeling healthy. That is a great thing.

Beautiful area! The sunshine on the remaining patches of snow looks like it could be late March or pics from early Spring.

Today is the last day of the '23-'24 Florida deer season. The last 7 days have been primitive weapons only. Since I still have a couple in the cooler to process, I didn't go until late this afternoon. Got to the stand about 4:30, at 5:30 a small 4 point came into the clearing. Decided not to shoot him, a few minutes later a little bit bigger buck came through the bushes and when he cleared the brush, the Knight 50 cal. did the job.
58 degrees, notice the choice of foot ware. I will put on my rubber bottom Bean Boots before I dress him.

Got a "marked" ear just like we used to do cattle many years ago. Wonder what almost caught him?

Been a good season, even if 4 of them came in the last 14 days.
The Lord has blessed us with good red meat for the year! ::tu::

And here I am in the hunt mode. Not quite as cold this day; cold, but not in low teens and on the water

Not fried. I do a light marinade in Allegro, just about 10-15 minutes or so in a baggie. I don't submerse it, I just put some in and then flip it about 7 or so minutes and let it sit for another 7 or so minutes and then grill. Ya pretty good. They are large steaks, no bones in the fish. The eggs are highly sought after, very similar to caviar, so I am told. We generally toss them back. I've caught a bunch.

Grandson and I did a haul of Blue Cats. We toss most back too but all depends on the freezer situation.

enuf, y'all have the makings of a fine fish fry!

Just wanted to show some pictures of what showed up on Sunday morning at the stand where I killed the 5 point with the M/L that afternoon.
Right before daylight.

Here he is, within sight of the shooting house while I was at home drinkin' coffee and getting ready for church.

Here he is, the next day after the season closed. Hope he makes it through the year. If he doesn't get hit out on the hiway or some rouge doesn't poach him before he drops his antlers, maybe we'll have enough growing in the food plots and feeders to keep him around.

Awesome pictures, tree. Incidentally, I think the bucks are starting to shed already. Saw a nice "5" point that had probably been a 10 point a few days earlier.
