If you fellers are like me, the story behind a knife always makes me wonder about it. The colonial town of Princess Anne is some miles up the Manokin River from Chesapeake Bay's Eastern Shore. How did that British knife wind up there? Why did someone donate it to a charity resale shop? Where has it been for 75-100 years? I swear it reminds me of reading about foreign and exotic places when I was a kid and day-dreaming about being there. I know there are some great new knives to collect but, well, for me they just don't have a story to tell. 'Must be gettin' old ! Glad you liked the knife. J.O.

Been in town today and I stopped by one of my pawn shops and picked up
this little 6 1/4" MOORE MAKER INC. Damascus Fixed Blade.

I'll be interested to hear what Moore has to say about the when and who. I'm betting on Queen or Bear. Did Queen make any damascus knives? Not sure about that.

Ray I stand corrected. I just got off the phone with one of guys in the family at Matador, TX and the only thing they produce anymore on site is farm and ranching implements. But everything that has their name on it tested first by some of the big Texas ranches. This knife was made for them by Bear & Son in Alabama and the production is within the last 5 years. The price new is $120.00, I got it today for $55.25.

Nice find and pick up, David. You have the history of the knife straight from one of the Moore family members. Can't get much more accurate than that.

When I told him I wanted to ask about this knife he said they had several companies and asked me for the model #. He said he had to get his catalog and then told me it was Bear & Son. From the tone of his voice and the sounds in the background I think he was busy, so I didn't ask anymore questions and thanked him for talking with me. He was nice, I just think his mind was on his work and not me.

Joan and I took a little ride about 50 miles through Pocomoke City, MD and into Virginia's Eastern Shore towns of Onancock and Melfa. Picked up 7 knives.
Here are two: A 5-1/4" CRAFTSMAN clasp hunter. Black "sawn" Delrin like a BUCK or SCHRADE. Main blade is etched, "A.C.A. (anvil) EDGE, Rust Resistant" (Don't know what that means?}
Tang stamped: CRAFTSMAN, U.S.A. 95026. (Anybody know Sears' tang stamps ?) The center liner is a 32nd" "proud" of the side liners. Odd ?
Also a neat old cigar box tool/knife from an Indianapolis cigar dealer. Nickel plated, heavy, 5-1/2", double hammers.

Knife pick-ups from AAPK store Bowie 469. A large Marshall Wells folding hunter and a Sheffield and Croydon hawkbill. The pin has been replaced on the hawkbill but the blade appears original to the frame. I can't find anything on this maker.____Dave

Could possibly be a Camillus.

Who knows? I was guessing on the basis of the scales. They have that finely "sawn" look that Buck and Schrade had. Would you know anything about their numbering system? Thanks, J.O'.

I found this little cutie in my birthday gift bag from my son Josh and his fiancée Ty.
It’s a bit bigger than it looks in the pic. They know I have a small camo obsession. Matter of fact, Josh says any more and they won’t take me camping this year - he’s afraid they’ll lose me in the woods!

Nice birthday knife!

Picked these up today at the Knife Show in Boaz Alabama.
1971 Case 6143 Redbone Big Daddy Barlow. Gator Snap blade, no wobble, no cracks in the handle and awesome color on the scales. A Kutmaster two blade swell center Whittler. Bone handles have a deep cola color. Like new with awesome walk and talk. It has the letter "V" below the tang stamp indicating Vanadium steel blades. A Royal Brand Utility Scout Knife, single blade, with two tools and a Compass in the handle. The handles are a black composite similar to the same material Case used in their rough black composite. Royal Brands sold knives from around 1917 until 1954. They didn't produce their own knifes, but outsourced from other Knife Makers, and also imported from Germany.
Lastly, I picked this knife up earlier in the week. An addition to my Camillus Rope Knife Family. It's a Camillus 697 Marlin Spike Knife. Great snap on blade and spike, no wobbles, and spike lock locks tight. Had to do a little cleaning on it as it was fairly nasty inside. Here's how it looks now.
