I can see a BNSF grain train sitting at the depot making a crew change. The BNSF has slowed down a lot here lately. Not many trains running. My brothers friend who is a engineer for the BNSF says they are slowing down but didnt say why?

Sorry you missed the 1309 John. Enjoyed the depot pics and the videos. Love them old steam engines.
Thanks, David. It will happen one day . . .

Another 1309 video from Sunday and a classic Lionel trains in action vid-
Interesting how old trains ran fast, today's layouts show slow and steady train movement.

Saw the CSX 544 sitting in the yard so snapped a quick pic of it.

2 great videos. These are the sort of things that get kids interested in rail. That top video, if a kid was standing with his father and saw that loco go past he would have his imagination stimulated. Then give him a train set, and let him learn and build it up. There you have the basis for a train enthusiast for life. Just loved that top video.

I agree, cudgee. That's one amazing steam engine.
Cool shots, David.

More nice action shots, David.
I picked up this little blue Santa Fe 0-4-0 switcher cheap, part of a Lionel Midland Freight set, but the very cheaply designed motor wasn't working, contrary to the seller's listing. Received a partial refund so I was happy about that. Then I found a Cannonball Express set with a beat up engine missing the boiler cover and did a motor swap. The Pennsy boxcar and lighted caboose are added for effect (along with the giraffe kitty toy ). The engine has really good pulling or pushing power now. Might paint the side of the tender blue to match the engine at some point, maybe add a silver A.T.&S.F. decal too.

You find any problems running on the floor?

Not really with O-31 track, Willy. The track fits tightly and doesn't move much on the carpet. On a smooth surface, like a platform, it definitely needs to be screwed down at least somewhat.

At the recommendation of one of our AAPK members, I'd like to start a train thread for anyone interested in posting things train related. I'll kick off the thread by posting some pictures I have readily handy on my cell. Feel free to post train/railroad related pictures and items as well.
We must be doing something right. Just noticed something, was reading the " What is on your reading list " thread. Has been going for 10 years, and i would have thought that reading being such a popular pastime would have a lot more interest than a train thread. Apparently not -
What's on your reading list - 10 years, 38 pages and 949 replies.
Any train enthusiasts out there? - 1 year, 41 pages and over 1000 replies.
Some progress on my U.P. to B&O conversions. Those yellow dotted line decals were challenging. Still looking for the right shade of blue for the shells, could be that my wife's Chevy Equinox touch-up paint gets the nod. Whoda thunk? I just need some decent outdoors weather for painting.

See, i have far too much time on my hands.
Not enough time mate. Spreading oneself, thin...
If I wasn't on cars so hard, I'd be chewing out my living room ez-track (HO), or Carrera race cars. On top of that, my "guitarsenal" skills are slowly getting upgraded, & bikes to ride this coming season.
Knives for more of a brain suck, reading to rebuild after; & ministry to top it all off...

Picked up an Erie shell on the cheap, which is probably getting done in a WMRR Fireball paint scheme. Will not have to paint the shell, just de-grease and remove old decals then apply new ones. Doesn't look terrible on the frame I prepped.

Way to go.
Thanks, cudgee. Model railroading will have to suffice for now.

Anyone else enjoy looking at railroad paint schemes and the evolution of today's railroads? Lots of gone but not forgotten ones, attaching some pictures I've found around that web that I thought might be of interest for educational purposes.

We had a family birthday party for my neice at the farm last night, I fired up the Polar Express for the kids. I just picked up this rattler tender so I couldn't wait to test it out. Pretty ingenious design on the part of Lionel. The 2055 Hudson 4-6-4 has the smoke feature and I have a whistle train station but haven't had the time to hook it up yet.
Spent the better part of yesterday cleaning and greasing up the turn-outs so they actually work remotely and change automatically instead of causing derailments. CRC contact cleaner and lithium grease did the job.
