You could repeat the RED GREEN MANTRA every time you are tempted to purchase another knife: I'M A MAN.....I CAN QUIT.....ANYTIME.....IF I HAVE TO.....maybe...

431st squadron
B 24 tail gunner pacific theater who flew 17 missions on the Pacific Passion.
The bailout/survival map shows detailed winter and summer ocean currents and wind patterns.
The knife belonged to my wife’s uncle who served in the Navy during WWII …Unfortunately I have no oral history on it.
I cannot say with certainty if it is from that era I have always assumed so.

Certainly WW2 knife. Generally with that shield would have been carried by a Navy Dr. thus the MD. However nothing to say a Navy airman would not have carried it.

Beautiful knife , I believe that tang stamp puts it from 1946-56 , but nothing is set in stone .

Mike, that 1946 to 1956 for the stamp seen on the knife shown here is the same info I’ve been using . Like you said though ,nothing is set in stone with Camillus.
Nice knife you have 1 more cast ! The MD is said to be Medical Dept. If I remember correctly. Great family piece you have .

Thanks guys for more confirmation on the date range given the stamp. Camillus is not my area of study. I had also always understood that MD denoted medical department as well….. possibly a pharmacist mate for example. This has been a great thread. Thanks to everyone for posting interesting knives and ancillary goodies.
