Schools back in, TN. Passed a law in 2013 that to be called Tennessee whiskey it was to be made in TN. Using the Lincoln County process of filtering or steeping the whiskey in charcoal before it is placed in the barrels, which are made by Brown Forman" the parent company of Jack Daniels " cooperage at the Trinty plant. They are the only company that makes their own barrels, the ones that are made for JD is mark with a J. There is an exception to the law. Prichard's Tennessee whiskey does not use the process but was grandfathered in or allowed to use TN whiskey in their branding as I understand it.
It's been several years since I've toured either the Jack Daniels or George Dickel distillery, but back in the days before OSHA it was a fun experience and is still is I'm sure , but the last time I was there there were some off limit places that wasn't in the old days. At least you can have a taste of goodies now.

Just want everyone to know there ain't a prejudiced bone in my body.

I actually liked blended scotch whiskey the first time I drank it. Oddly enough try as I might I don't enjoy the single malts that I've tried as much as the blended.

I went through a rum and Coke period a few years back, still like a touch now and again.

Couple of hard working knives shown with a bottle to relax with after the job is finished.

Not much of a liquor drinker, this was a gift a few years back. A popular distillery in Butte, MT, they are named after the headframes used for mining back in the day and different miner related things. I use it in brines for shoulder and hams.

Niiiiiiiiiiiice.

Anyone use a freezer rockglass like this for their ice? A bud gave this to me for Christmas one year. Scotch is good for boys and girls.

The black rubber part makes a buffer so the ice doesn't break the glass. Pretty ingenious design.

I call this a Knuckle Duster- Vodka or White Rum with cranberry juice and a splash of orange juice.

I’ve done that. Cranberry juice is a good (and healthy) mixer.
A local outdoor lakefront bar that is Jimmy Buffet/Key West theme has a signature drink called Sexy Parrot. It is Key Lime rum and cranberry with a twist of lime. My favorite summer drink.

Nice, Boji! My wife and I (we weren't married then) went to Key West between Christmas and New Years in 2018. Had a great time, that place is off the hook!

I considered some Larceny today at the grocery store but after much waffling, settled on a bottle of the cheap stuff. I can't tell the difference anyway.

Sitting around on a rainy day puts a fellers mind to roaming around. Thought I'd share some local history with anybody inclined to enjoy a knife or a sip of sour mash.
The original Charles Nelson Greenbrier whiskey distillery is located about 3 miles from my house, on Rock Fork creek. It operated from 1867 till 1909 when Tn. inacted state level prohibition of alcoholic beverages. In 1870 Charles Nelson bought the distillery and by 1885 it was producing 380,000 U.S. gallons annually. Jack Daniels was producing 23,000 gallons in this same time period.
The product was sold in different parts of the United States under the label of Nelson's Best.
In 1923 the distilling equipment was salvaged and shipped to Canada to be used by Seagram in their distilling operation.
The great, great, great grandsons of Charles Nelson have revived the brand and are producing whiskey in Nasville.

Glad you fellers enjoyed it you can get a lot more information on the web. The distillery was put on the registry of historical places in 2008. You will notice
how close to the road it is, it been hit by a automobile and damaged twice that I know of in the last few years and repaired. The big building "which I presume was the barrel house"was use as a tobacco barn up untill a few years ago. If you enlarge the picture of the back side you'll notice what's left of a old shed which was a tobacco stripping room.
When I was a yonker the old spring was Greenbriers source of water. They built a dam and filter plant below the juntion of Rock Fork creek and Paytons fork about a half a mile from the distillery when I was in high school.
The filter plant is torn down now but the lake still remains.

Water from the spring and the old water storage tank from when it serviced the town.

Red I doubt it , there is houses up on the hill behind the Springhouse and I don't know if they on City sewage or septic systems, there is so many houses around here that I'm afraid of all spring and well water anymore. I workd in a water filtration plant and one of my coworkers who lived on a big ole farm brought us some of his well water to be tested, it had bacteria in it that didn't bother he and his wife but evertime his grandkids came over they'd get sick, so ever since then I've stayed away from it.
This is all hearsay so take it with a grain of salt.
The young Nelson brothers that own the name and make the whiskey in Nashville have looked into buying the property , which I understand is about 5 acres total, evidently the price that was quoted is too high. I also understand they were told they'd have to put in a filtration system for the Springwater. I also was told that they are the only one's that could use the property as a distillery.
