Thanks QS and doglegg ... I probably have others but sometimes I don't photograph them... I may have some hawk photos which are abundant around here as well - there are eagles but never saw one land around us - they are closer to the river... Wild turkeys cross the road by the dozens here as well but not normally near my house ever since a bobcat wondered onto our property about 5 years ago and he was just seen again recently - when there are bobcats the turkeys become scarce ... The area about a mile down the road where there are wide open fields at the horse farm you can see turkeys galore - one day last spring I stopped in the road as the hens were crossing their newborns across the road .. about 6-8 new ones would scurry across the road as the older ones waited on each side waiting for them all to cross - and there must have been close to 30 newborns .. I didn't get any photos ...

Longblade, you make me jealous.

We were driving beside a creek just outside of Kelly Wy. when suddenly the ducks on the creek just exploded and flew every which way. My wife and I were both surprised and wondered what has spooked them. About that second this young bald eagle landed in the tree beside our car. Mystery explained.

Thanks Doc B, FRJ and LB, BigHomer, we have Blue Jays and Crows but I don't see the other one around here. I here wood peckers but only see them on rare occasions.

Garry they are daily visitors to my feeder. I get Red Bellied, Hairy, and Downy Woodpeckers here regularly. I occasionally will see a Pileated Woodpecker flying across my farm but have yet to see one visit my feeders.

Phil, what is the terrain like around you? I get red-bellied, but that is it.

That’s true that you never know what you’ll see on the web ... Here’s just one example ... a Bird Dog ..

Not often to see both the male and female at the same time. Usually they take turns feeding.

Steve I have a pair that visit my feeder and when she isn't on the nest she us usually with him. In the spring before the egg laying starts he will often feed her when they come to the feeder. I once watched him open a peanut, take the nut out and go feed it to her. I really enjoy seeing him be such a gentleman. After the first nest has fledged he will bring the young ones with him and feed them while she is on the nest with the 2nd group.

I like the fact cardinals mate for life.

I've observed the same behavior as doglegg talking about and I've also watched the males run the females off. I posting a couple of photos of Tn. Songbirds and I have all of them visit regularly.

Saw the same thing last year,i.e. the male feeding the female and then the young-3 females. Before pairing off for mating all the Cardinals keep a distance from each other while feeding. I place my feed on the ground in a fairly wide distribution, much of it tucked under a large evergreen.
This prevents most aggressiveness and also prevents the necessity of waiting for room at the feeders.

bighomer you have quite a selection. I've seen the males run off the youngsters after they get some size. Nice posters.
Before we got our present dog I only had feeders on the ground. But my dog likes bird seed so up it came.

Don't know what kind bird this is but it likes my suet, he open one basket and stole the suet and then the rascal stole suet basket and all.
