I, too, may be mistaken, but I think that is called "Sawcut Bone." The Barn Board jigging has nearly parallel lines running the length of the handle. None of the boxes I have for this particular knife provide any information about the handle other than the color, so it's hard to say for sure.

Took a look at mine and the lines do run parallel the length of the handle (except at the ends where the bone is hafted of course). It's Barn Board.

Well sooey, I found another that I reckon fits here, my knive tote'n hero from out in the far west bombed me with it a while back, "he knew that an ole bottom feeding cheapskate like me would never pop for one" it's a beauty and sharp as a tack. Some of you fine folks would have put it up in a safe, and that's okay. But as you look through these pages at what he totes on a daily basis you'll realize that not what he wanted. Look at that patina I love it.

In the English language, the color blue has many connotations, both positive and negative. Our planet, Earth, is often described as "The Blue Planet" because from outer space it appears almost entirely blue due to all the oceans which make up the majority of the planet's surface. While the words to many blues songs deal with tragedy or hopeless situations and feelings of loss, blues guitar is actually quite fascinating in it's ability to elicit powerful emotions that make you feel anything but unhappy...it's got mood and it's just plain groovy. (For really depressing music, try listening to most country blues...that stuff will make you feel practically suicidal!)

Case makes knives with handles in a wide variety of blue hues: There's the basic Blue Bone, Ocean Blue, Caribbean Blue, Blue Lagoon, Mediterranean Blue, Sky Blue, Burnt Indigo...and that's just the bone handles. On top of that, they've also got Blue Stag as well as a number of different blue synthetic handles such as Blue Ice Acrylic and Blue Sparkle Kirinite.

I had a hard time choosing just one Mini Trapper to post today that fit this week's color wheel theme because I have a lot of blue knives...each one a stunningly beautiful shade of blue. But rules are rules and I couldn't find a way to get around the one-knife-per-day rule this time. So for my Mini TrapPER DIEM today I chose the blue knife I added to my collection most recently.

My choice for Day 4 on the colorwheel is a smooth blue bone I like a lot.

DAY 13

If Tuesday can be "Two-for-Tuesday," then I'm declaring today "Throwback-Thursday" because today I'm turning the tables on jerryd and playing the game of "monkey see, monkey do" that he started. (And I'm awarding myself one Bonus Point as well )

All of you who've been following this thread probably think that you know what color Mini Trapper I will be posting today (Violet) since on Monday jerryd correctly identified this week's theme as "knives with handles that correspond to the primary colors on the color wheel" and yesterday's Mini Trapper was Blue. But, if you're expecting to see a Violet Mini T today, I'd like to introduce you to my buddy, ROY G. BIV, who I met in my eighth grade science class.

Oh, and BTW...Lest anyone be concerned that this apparent sequence interruption will disrupt my obsessive compulsion for order (OCD), the attached video explains why my posting an INDIGO Mini Trapper is not only perfectly logical, it's really the only way I could properly satisfy my OCD...anything else would have thrown this whole week's theme into a state of chaotic disarray. And I think Sir Isaac Newton would have to agree.

Now here are a few reasons that will help you understand why my posting of an Indigo Mini Trapper is entirely consistent for someone with OCD, like me.

Characteristics of people who favor Indigo:
You have an addictive personality and may be a workaholic or addicted to other things (such as Mini Trappers, perhaps?).
You can become fanatical and obsessive at times. (I consider myself fanatically anti-fanatical)
You need structure in your life - organization is important to you and you can be quite inflexible when it comes to order in your life.
Having a personality color indigo, you love rituals and traditions.
You are honest, compassionate and understanding. Integrity is extremely important to you.
Being a personality color indigo indicates you are hungry for the meaning of life.
Service to humanity is one of your strengths and essential to your well-being.

But, enough about me...here's my Mini TrapPER DIEM for today:

It's hard to go wrong with black...and even randomness has a certain degree of logic to it.

I think there are five. Not positive but pretty sure. And you are correct, it is not a competition.

DAY 14

So, we've come to the end of the second week of this thread and we've seen a nice variety of Mini Trappers. However, the Trapper pattern being what it is, i.e., ubiquitous and infinitely varied, there are undoubtedly many more examples yet to come that still need to be shown. Hopefully my OCD-inspired need to have some sort of "theme" has not scared off other Mini Trapper owners and kept them from posting their knives. Maybe we'll get more showings with next week's theme. But, before getting into that, let's wrap up this week's "color wheel" theme with my Mini TrapPER DIEM knife in the final color of the sequence: VIOLET.
For some reason, it's hard for my camera to capture the vibrant violet color...it looks blue. Perhaps it would help to change the background color to something more contrasting.
Or, better yet, show the entire week's ROY G. BIV Rainbow all together.
Out of a seemingly random jumble of multi-hued Mini Trappers, my OCD addled mind discovered a pattern and created order out of chaos to reveal an elusive yet awesomely beautiful natural phenomena hiding in plain sight: the individual wavelength components of the spectrum of visible light. So you 'see' boys and girls, OCD isn't necessarily always a bad thing.

Next week's theme has less to do with science and more to do with seasons...unless you consider hunting to be scientific (I bet most of you can guess the theme already just from that single clue, am I right?) And please remember, you are not expected nor required to post a knife that fits the theme if you don't want to...the theme thing is just my little OCD method to help me decide which Mini Trappers to post and to remember which ones I've already posted so as not to repeat any.

John, by any chance do you own a Beagle? I am a dog lover myself and it has been my experience that my best relationships have always involved a dog. In fact, I would not hesitate to claim that the majority of my most meaningful personal character traits are those I learned from my dogs. Although I don't currently own a dog due to certain unfortunate circumstances which make it impossible, most of my neighbors do, so I never lack for opportunities to interact with our canine cousins.

DAY 15

There's nothing that compares to the loss of a beloved dog...especially a good hunting dog. But the memory of Daisey the "bunny hunting machine" serves as a perfect transition to the theme of this week's Mini TrapPER DIEM.

As many of you are no doubt aware, this time of year is significant for several reasons. The autumnal equinox marks the official end of Summer and the beginning of Fall, the period of time when the length of sunlight during the days grows increasingly shorter causing all sorts of dramatic changes in the immediate world around us. The air temperature cools, the leaves of deciduous trees begin to change color and fall off, public schools resume daily class schedules, crops ripen and agricultural harvesting begins to ramp up production. But all of those things pale in importance to one other uniquely American tradition: opening day of hunting season. Depending on which part of the country you live in, the type of game you're after as well as your hunting weapon of choice (bow & arrow or gun), the exact day and date of opening day will vary somewhat from coast to coast. When I was growing up as a boy in Wyoming, Opening Day (yes, it was capitalized because it was that important) was a State-sanctioned holiday taken more seriously and observed more religiously than any other holiday except perhaps Christmas...and even then it was a toss up. Let's face it, Americans are a hunting people; if your ancestors have been here for more than a few generations, hunting is just a part of who you are--it's in your DNA.

In recognition and to a certain extent celebration of this aspect of American culture, the Mini TrapPER DIEM theme for the next week or so (and very likely longer) will focus on all things related to hunting...mainly stag handled knives and knives that carry the trademarks of gun manufacturers and/or other equipment typically associated with hunting.

To kick this off, here's my Mini TrapPER DIEM for today:
Ironically, most of the Mini Trappers in my collection that carry the trademarks of gun manufacturers were made overseas and, sadly, are noticeably inferior in quality to those made in USA. Evidence, I suppose, that the "other" great American tradition of economic free-market capitalism, i.e., making money, trumps hunting (well...quality knife construction by gun manufacturers, anyway) in American culture.

Keep your edges sharp and your powder dry. But, most importantly, be safe.

The only thing I can match, concept wise, in that post of the day is locality of origin.
This Imperial Schrade isn't marked as such but it is of course made in China.
