Here's a Southington tuxedo I got recently.
Southington stopped making knives in 1905.

Very nice knife with great handles and no cracks. There are so many vintage Tuxedo knives 'out there' that they must have been part of the well dressed man's 'attire', along with wallet, keys and handkerchief.

Agreed, and in the case of Southington knives, in place of keys, riding gloves.

I can't tell who made it but it does seem to be German. Nice little pearl.

I have one that is really close to this one, tang stamp, Magnetic cutlery Germany.

Nope, it's Magnetic. At first I thought it was majestic but it's magnetic. Mine has 4 grooves in the bolsters not 3 like yours. And it has some jimping, I think the term is, around the pearl, but otherwise it's the spittin'image. Yours looks to be in better shape though.

Thank you! It's not that I doubt you, I just don't see Magnetic in what's left of the tang stamp.
Is yours any clearer? Can you post a pic so I can see it and compare? Thanks again.

here are some photos of mine. I had to look at both tang stamps to decipher it. 'lotta off road miles on this one.

Just wanted to move my tang stamp closer so I can compare the two. In fact, I added two more pictures. I just don't see it. I don't see MAGNETIC there. I see partial CUTLERY. I don't see GERMANY. There is nothing at all on the other side or on the other blade tang. I did notice that the nail nicks on each knife are different shapes and sizes. Thank you for taking the time to post yours.

Shortly after seeing Joe's fine Southington ivory tuxedo on previous page i saw a Northfield Knife Co. tuxedo on ebay with handles described as "white composition". I thought 'ya, right', a high end vintage brand like Northfield, and a 'dressy' pattern like this, these creamy colored handles are ivory.
Well, i have this tuxedo knife now and, --- the handles are white composition.
Tang marking was not well struck but can still be deciphered.

I like those very refined bolsters.
This may have been built towards the end of their days with the worn stamp and the composition covers.

It’s marked ‘Germania Cutl. Works Germany’, which was owned by the Kastor family until 1938.

Thank you Joe. Action on the Northfield blades is smooth with crisp snaps, half stops and no play. I think of Northfield Knife Co. as a maker of top quality knives but i don't know if this is accurate. My opinion has been influenced i think by GEC using "Northfield" for their top line of knives.
Ann, good little Tux you've got. It must have also been popular in Germany as you can find many vintage German tuxedo knives 'out there'.
Actually in today's 'uptight times', the tuxedo pattern could make a come back as acceptable to carry in the office workplace.

Roland, I'm not surprised at the action on your old knife.
Northfield made a good knife as did most of the cutlerys of the early days.
In my opinion.

What a great trend this would be.

The Tuxs certainly are elegant enough for office carry, but practically I think the tiny SAKs are more useful, especially the ones with tiny scissors.

Zoogirl, i do agree how useful small SAK's are. A Gent or Lady could pocket a small SAK and a Tuxedo pen knife for their 'office days'.

Picked up this pretty 3 1/4" Cattaraugus, really impressed how much detail they got with the bone for such small covers.

You are right about the detail in the bone!
That may have been a jigging pattern Catt. only used on small knives.
