Posted this elsewhere on the forum but certainly applicable and a beautiful knife.

I had two CASE XX 4257 knives that had the handles shrinking and cracking.

Glenn agreed to take on the project on one. Glenn did not disappoint me with the awesome work on this knife. All expectations of the reworked knife were fulfilled.

Pattern not made in many eras/years and only in white comp to my knowledge.

Here she is with the other knife I have left that for before / after comparision with the remaining knife I have (both in same condition before rehandle).

Red Mallee wood is my understanding. Whatever that is.

Regards, Jerry

Red Mallee, (Eucalyptus calycogona), is native to Australia and is a member of the Eucalyptus family.
It is a scrub-land vegetation or bush that grows in many parts of Australia.
I think those handles are made from the burl between the roots and the trunks of the plant.
It is beautiful wood and fairly easy to work with.

K-A-Q, Love that curly burch!

Nice knives guys!

Dale, thanks for the info on what is Red Melee!

Nice spread Johnnie!

Here are some CASE 031 'Electrician's Knives" in Walnut.

CASE USA 13031L pic 1. I actually traded this knife to Glenn for the Red Melee conversion with a couple other junk knifes. I'll have to touch base with Glenn and see if he reworked this one. Love to see it if he did.
