I recently picked up this Challenge Cutl. Co. Bridgeport Conn stamped jack. Mr. Blister would call it a HAWG measuring in at 4 1/2" and the jigging reminds me of snakeskin. Half-stops that would rattle your fillings loose, plently of life left in this ol' gal. Someone may have cleaned up the spear blade at some point as the long pull looks shallow. Part of a knife lot I picked up at auction for $25, came with a pretty sweet Remington too.

Thanks, Joe. The more I look at it I think snake skin or fish scales. If I saw this thing on the ground in the woods I'd jump back.

The other day the second knife came up on eBay. It appears to be very similar to my knife right down to the white lined Christmas Tree handles.
I guess my point is that it pays to be persistent in searching for answers and that common wisdom is sometimes more common than wisdom.
My knife is first and the eBay knife second:
Hey Steele, some of the most beautiful celluloid I've ever seen!

He oughta know Steele, Perry's one of the celluloid kings.
Roger ,I love that spey on the trapper.I might have seen a Sword Brand with a blade like that, can't be sure if my memory is correct though. I guess that hunter is around 4 1/2 "s ? Are those the ones you got at Parkers? I do like 'em.

I follow a lot of Ebay auctions that have interesting knives listed.
This beautiful Challenge swell-center whittler sold on Ebay this past week.
It sold for $431.00.
Nice knives draw their value on Ebay if properly presented.
Is it "mint"? No, it is not, it has pits and spiders, but it appears unused and unsharpened with 95% of its original finish present.
Fantastic knife.
Photos should expand X 2.

That is a really nice knife Charlie.I watched it but didn't bid.It brought more than what I thought it would. But it is a plus knife all the way around.Make, pattern, bone and condition.

Thanks for the kind words. I was really suspicious of this knife but I kept on looking for comparables. I guess persistence paid off.

Peanut, those are stunning Challenge knives. The bone on the hunter IS very nice. Thanks for posting them.
Junebug, that Challenge razor was made by the company of pocket knife fame. The nickel silver handles are great and the condition looks really fine with the original grind.
