Someone please put foxs picture back in place, Those two are so ugly im afraid they will rip my wallet out of my pocket while I have my eyes closed.

Figured we were in for a prolonged battle over the illegitamacy of the SS. I went out and harvested some specimens and brought them back in the official harvested SS specimen case that I borrowed from my wife. Next time im going to shoot them, They really get squirrely when you sneek up and rip'em out by the roots. I found a coven of them out in the darkest parts of forest. They were drinking and shifting around like devil things. Sometimes they shifted into abberations that had hideous circular
horns not unlike that of a giant unicorn. Im afraid these creatures are evolving into something that mankind alone will not be able to deal with.
Im sure to go out any more with a team of backups. I hear scratching at my front gate, have to run for now.

I'd like to report an identity theft A sandbar has abducted Fox and taken on killer penguin form. Fellow members beware all is not as it seems. s-k

Dear knifers. AAPK has brought me in to investigate the mysterious Sandbar case. I can say with definite certainty that the previous postings were not by the real Fox. Fox has been missing for several days now. We were assigned to investigate a rare flesh-eating bacteria on a remote drilling platform last week and he never arrived at the airport for the flight down. The soul stealers posting was a weak attempt to divert your attention and distract you from the truth. The Sandbar have abducted the real Fox and now mimic his likeness. They also appeared briefly as some sort of crazy looking bird and there is no telling what form they will take next. The fiendishness of these creatures has no limits. There may be some paypack for Mossdancer's antler harvest so be careful. Trust no one. Scully

Well, I called Red Hill Cutlery and Canal Street Cutlery today and I got quite a story about our Sandbar Stag. It seems many years ago (OK I have a Finnish last name and Southern roots due to a shotgun wedding--TRUE story) a good old Southern boy just did not know how to spell Sambar Stag and spelled it Sandbar Stag. The name stuck. Yes they are the same thing--same animal. Sandbar Stag was born because a good old Southern Boy could not spell. I figure it's true, how often do you find that fact is stranger than fiction. Here it is, DIRECT from Red Hill Cutlery of Kentucky.

I requested an answer to probably the same question you posed over the phone. I really do like things in writing.

If in fact it happened as you were told and they had knowledge of it then they should never have used the name. At the very least it is deceptive advertising. Please , do not think I hold CSCC in disdain at all. I currently own a couple and will purchase more in the future. That being said, they have a problem they must address to their consumers.

This has been an enjoyable thread. If we are at the end, then so be it. It was a good ride.

I'll just say, that the late Jim Parker was way sharper ( ) than just some old southern boy. I believe it was a way to let him use any type of stag antler that was available (because of cost, or supply) on his knives, while still identifying it with a marketable name. Also, the way it was then finished out (lots of smooth cream/white...less demanding of the quality of the Stag) on the handles, especially those he had made in Japan. I do agree that "Sandbar" may have caught on with a few folks, maybe even because of it being mentioned in Parker's books...you can see that by searching for the term.

Sadly , this case has come to an end for me. As you can see, Fox and I are back together and our services are required elsewhere. Something about killer butterflies in Texas I believe . However, now that I am a member of your fine site, I will monitor the communications from time to time. I am certainly willing to contribute should another mystery arise. Best wishes. Scully
