robin hood
robin hood
Hey Gunsil, Robin hood knife with sheath listed on ebay now. Randy
Re: robin hood
Thanks, I saw that!! Blade is modified a bit and the sheath looks like a copy of the original. Sure has super nice jigged bone scales!! I still have four of them in better shape than that one, but I only have one original sheath. Be interesting to see what it goes for.

Re: robin hood
I searched ebay, found 26 listings but none with jigged bone. How about a link ?

Re: robin hood
Thanks. Why the name "Robin Hood" ? No mention of this in the listing. Did it once have an etch ?

Yes Roland, had an etch " Robin Hood " at one time. Very scarce knife.

Re: robin hood
I remember watching "Robin Hood" a weekly half hour TV show in the late 1950's, early '60's. Is this knife from the same time period ? i.e. capitalizing on the popularity of Robin Hood TV show ?

Re: robin hood
No, Roland, it had nothing to do with any TV show being a knife made from the early 1920s-early 1930s before there were any TVs. It was KA-BAR model 267 with stag scales and model 667 with bone scales. The KA-BAR facoey name for the knife was Robin Hood and that was etched on the early knives but probably not on all of them. KA-BAR had model names for all their hunting knives in the early days. "Bearcat", Trusty", "Faithful", and of course "Expert" were some of the other model names. "Minuteman", Trading Post", "Little Hunter", "Old Boy", "Primitive", "Explorer", and "Pathfinder" were also KA-BAR hunting knife model names.
